Mid town Memphis Jewel. We recently moved to Memphis and visited as the admission was free. But, that said the cost for us would be minimal. We will definitely be back in the spring when the gardens are in bloom. The gallery is much larger than we expected. Plenty of docents to assist us. Saw a tour group with a guide. Looking forward to returning.

I was able to visit the Dixon Gallery and Gardens today while at a private event. Our group focused on the Black Artist in America and the paintings were beautiful yet amazing. I loved how the focus is set on the Great Depression up until the Civil Rights. We were told to expect two more exhibits (2023, 2025) that’ll provide more insight into Black America. I can’t wait to be able to view it! I did take a few photos but wanted to be respectful and live in the moment of these wonderful paintings. Being that admission is free through the rest of the year (possibly longer) I will definitely return

Met a friend for coffee this morning at Park+Cherry at the Dixon. It was great! First, we both felt safe. We only had coffee but still had very attentive service. And the gardens look gorgeous. I’m going to try to find time to get back over there and walk around. There were several moms there with little kids and they looked like they were having fun. Plus, they have eliminated the entrance fees. I’ll go back.

Amazing place to visit. The gardens were larger then expected and the gallery also. It is free (7 normally) for the remainder of 2021, a donation is thanked. Grounds were very kept. Nicky shaded for the hot days, and the a/c is very nice in the gallery. It was in the 90s on our visit. Very friendly staff.

While the venue is beautiful, I was disappointed with the lack of masking when I attended a wedding. I was hopeful when I saw signs about masks being required. However, most guests were not wearing masks, despite the fact that the employees were. When you are asking your employees to wear masks to protect others but do not enforce the same for guests, it may be representative of how you value your staff. Do better, Dixon.

I've been to Memphis several times, but this past weekend I visited the Dixon for the very first time. And I really enjoyed the experience! The gardens aren't huge, but they're very nice, and there are lots of tables to sit and enjoy the gardens. But the gallery was lovely. Right now, they have two exhibits on abstract expressionism: "Abstract Expressionism: A Social Revolution, Selections from the Haskell Collection" and "Friedel Dzubas: The Ira A. Lipman Family Collection" (both through January 5, 2020). I haven't had many opportunities to see such modern

I always like Dixon. I used to come regularly when I lived in Memphis. Interesting exhibits, great gardens. I attended a lecture on ferns which was excellent. I would have given 5 star except the gift shop basically doesn't exist anymore. It was an excellent shop and I bought many things there over the years.

Very disappointing experience with the Dixon this morning. After paying my admission fee and touring through the preliminary art down the hall, I went to enter the gallery and was stopped and told that I could not enter with a backpack. I was confused because I'm a 34 year old woman who hasn't worn a backpack since high school... I realized she was referred to my "backpack style purse". I offered to let the security guard search through my purse if that would make her more comfortable and she declined saying they just weren't allowed, period, and as I tried to speak again

One of my favorite places in Memphis! You can get an "internet" membership that costs $20. You don't get all of the benefits of a full membership, but you get free entry so it is worth it if you like to just pop in on your lunch break or on a Sunday afternoon and browse the art and gardens. The old home that houses the art is so beautiful and there is something to see in the gardens all year round, though spring is the best time to see the gardens. They always have a traveling exhibit and I have never been disappointed by one. The permanent exhibits are beautiful as well! They also

This was my first time visiting the Museum part of the Dixon Gallery & Gardens and I must say it was PHENOMENAL!!! The art work was just out of this world.
It is a beautiful must see place located in the midst of beautiful and serene gardens.
The staff members are very enthusiastic and welcoming. You can tell they take great pride in the work that they do.
The gift shop and the cafe is also an extra bonus that makes the experience one to remember. I delighted in a tasty danish and peppermint mocha...they both were awesome!

Dixon Gallery & Gardens have a number of excellent exhibits indoors and well-kept grounds for a leisurely stroll outside. At a $7 admission price for adults it is completely reasonable for the amount of things you get to see. Inside the galleries they have a desk where you can get additional information on the gallery and specific collections. Their permanent collections include fine art and decorative art. There is also a small gift shop. The gallery is housed inside of the home that belonged to a couple with the last name of Dixon who built the house in the 1940s.

Highly recommended. The curated exhibit of Meissen porcelain is wonderful. Great overview with wonderful specimens. Don't miss the pewter collection, nicely done and very unique. The French Impressionists collection is a good overview -- not much depth, but hits samples of most of the key artists.
Can't say enough about the gardens. Well laid out, nicely tended, properly signef. Really enjoyed the woodland gardens. Perfect on a hot summer day.

This has been on my list of must-see places to see in Memphis for a few months now, and I finally got to visit over the weekend. It made for a relaxing and peaceful Saturday. The garden itself isn't that big, and I expected to see more flowers/shrubbery. I did like that there were a ton of benches scattered throughout the gardens so you can just plop down to people and bird watch. I think I spent almost 2 hours just watching people. Oddly enough, the best part was watching the different birds that were everywhere (and I don't even know the first thing about bird watching).

So this is a bit of a weird review, because it's not for the Dixon Gardens b/c I didn't see much of that apart from the entrance (which was beautiful with butterflies and flowers dancing in the breeze) because I only came for food truck Friday and that's all I experienced and it was awesome! Entrance to the gardens is free during food truck Friday's, but since I had to get back to work, I didn't take advantage of that.
So I have to say, it was absolutely worth the 20min drive from my work in Collierville (so 40 Mins in total) to go here, for a Friday lunch when you aren

Attended the Dixon after dark trivia night. Really enjoyed it. $14 to get in, but the experience is fun. Customer service is great and the questions are fun.
Will definitely be attending it again. Better bring your A game of you want to beat Team JoeAsh.
They have other nightly events throughout the week if you follow them on facebook. Nice little cafe and gift shop. Really looking forward to going back and seeing the exhibits doting the day.
There are 2000 pieces to look at, and Renoir is the most highly represented artist. (Both were trivia questions. )

So I've been to the Dixon Gallery & Garden three times now. I'm surprised it has taken me this long to write a review. The first two times was for Food Truck Friday's which is awesome and is still going on until September 25 from 11:30AM-1:30PM (just look up the schedule on the Dixon website). I have tried the Millie's Garden Food Truck & the Say Cheese Food Truck, which were both pretty good. Also, just a note, during Food Truck Fridays it is free to tour the gardens, which I thought was an added bonus.

I really can only speak on the outside of the Dixon gallery and the event that was going on (Food Truck Fridays). This was my first time ever going here. The outside is gorgeous so peaceful and relaxing. The scenery alone would make a person visit over and over. Hopefully, one day I take the time out to walk around and explore.
I originally heard about Food Truck Fridays from a fellow yelper. Thinking that it was a one time only event, I just thought I missed it. My friend that is on yelp as well mentioned it some days ago and found out the event location wasn't too far from our job. It
