The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).
A United States flag is provided, at no cost, to drape the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased veteran who served honorably in the U. S. Armed Forces. It is furnished to honor the memory of a veteran's military service to his or her country. Generally, the flag is given to the next-of-kin, as a keepsake, after its use during the funeral service.

This was my second visit to Watermans and again I was not happy. I have been to many funeral homes and never have I seen the disrespect that I did there. For one thing it was for a Veterans funeral and the flag instead of being over the coffin was thrown over a chair. The veteran himself smelled heavily of chemicals. This was new to me. The vets hair was standing straight up. Not down in the military haircut he always wore. There was black mascara on his orange eyelashes but only on half of them. There was chunks of makeup on his face also. It gave me the impression that the mortician did not do

I rarely take the time to write reviews but after my recent experience I am compelled to express my deep appreciation for the excellent service my family received. It was such a low and difficult time for us. The Waterman family was so compassionate and professional. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. The funeral was perfect! Thank you Waterman’s so much.

My family has been extremely pleased with the services of Norman Waterman Funeral home. The owners have been compassionate and professional. I had to opportunity to meet the son, the father and mother during my interactions to make arrangements for our mother. There was no time when the owners tried to push more services or items. They made every step of the process very easy. I would highly recommend the use of this funeral company when one is faced with the difficult situation of making the final arrangements for a beloved family member. I was surprised to receive in the mail today, a pamphlet
