Services
We have been known as a family-owned and operated funeral home since our beginning in 1913 when Harry W. Parker left his partnership with Arthur G. Schultz. Mr. Parker set up the Parker Funeral Home business at 116 East Miller Street, his residence, along with a furniture store at 114 East Miller Street.
Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home has been a Newark institution for over 100 years. We've grown and matured along with our community and have worked hard to meet Newark's changing needs. Here are some of the features which make us the most comfortable and family-friendly funeral home in the Newark area.
If you wish to obtain obituary data or funeral information for a loved one who has passed away prior to this period, please contact us. To filter obituaries by the name of the deceased, enter the desired name(s) in the First Name and/or the Last Name fields and click "Apply". Partial name matches are also supported, so providing "Bob" for "First Name" would match obituaries for both "Bob" and "Bobbie".
Coming into the village of Newark on Route 31, proceed to the intersection of Route 88 (South Main Street). It will be your second traffic light. Turn right, go one block and turn left at the traffic light onto East Miller Street. We are on your right on the first block. Coming into the village of Newark on Route 31, proceed to the intersection with East Avenue (there is an American Legion on the right corner).
Q: Quite some time ago, we prearranged for our mother's funeral with another funeral home. Is it possible to transfer that pre-arrangement, even if it's pre-paid, to another funeral home? A: A lump sum death benefit in the amount of $255.00 is payable only to a surviving spouse or dependent child. It is no longer paid to other family members or your funeral director.
