Take A Hike stands for finding your Happy Place, a state of mind where your worries and monotony have no choice but to take a back seat!

My father, an avid cyclist and bike shop owner, raised me in a world full of tires, trails, campfires, and good times. Unfortunately my father was forced to shut his doors in 2003 when online sales boomed and with no regrets he calmly said, "I'm taking a ride!".

This place is a SCAM. Do yourself a favor and place your order somewhere else. I ordered a helmet and paid for express shipping 2 weeks ago.. Still no updates on shipping and their customer service is SILENT (voicemails, texts, emails--none of them answered). Filing a claim with my credit card company.
EDIT: Can't believe my eyes--a response! Looks like you pay more attention to your Google review comments than anything else. If not a scam, then what do you call it when you hand over hundreds of dollars to a business, weeks go by and the business won't answer any customer service emails, calls

This has become my go to bike shop. I'm lucky enough to be local and go into the brick and mortar location, but I know a ton of people that order from around the country and are more than satisfied with the shops timely delivery. They have such a huge selection of top quality parts and gear, usually with a wide selection of colors too. Joey Russell (the owner) is truly a gem in the MTB world. He has helped me out a ton: from working on my bikes, to inviting me to rides, and even buildng my current full suspension bike. The guy will do anything and everything to take care of his people.

This is my family's go-to shop for mountain biking and my trail running needs! The staff has gone out of their way multiple times to help us get bikes repaired, get rad new ones built, and even shipped our bikes out to Colorado for vacation!! Joey, the owner, has a ton of experience and gives us the best advice on which new items are worth it and which ones we should pass on. Super easy to shop online or swing by the store and pick up what we need. Best place in St. Louis!!

THIS SITE IS NOT A SCAM. It may be a bit frustrating because they will be slower than usual due to COVID. Much respect to the owner for hustling on pretty much his own and getting stuff done. Hopefully the site will be running back at full capacity.
If you read this and you are dealing with something, IF IT IS URGENT, drop a review flagging the owner and he may be able to respond.
If not, a little bit of patience goes a long way

Excellent company to do business with. They were able to work with me in getting the Garmin watch I desired. Despite the fact that these watches are quite an investment, Take A Hike Shop prices are competitive with big box stores and even the major online retailers. Don’t waste your time cross checking prices keep it simple and buy from this shop.

Shipping wise great! I had to return a stem and did so within the 30 days. It was delivered back to them 9/20/21. It’s been 3 months and they haven’t answered their phone once and finally checked their email and claimed they don’t have the returned stem as I sent them proof it was indeed delivered. Now the emailing is quiet and no word back. This company and their customer service is GARBAGE. I’m either gonna take a ride there or file a small claims lawsuit.

I’m a relatively new customer but I can offer a lot of clarification on some reviews that were left behind on here. Take a Hike shop will not refuse you service based on how much you’re willing to spend on a bike, in fact they will actually go out of their way to ensure that you get the best bang for your buck. They are not magicians and cannot pull back ordered/unavailable product out of thin air so you must be patient on some things; with that being said that’s currently a issue with all shops.

Terrible service and customer response. Tried to give a small company business over the box stores, huge mistake. Package should have arrived 5 days ago however tracking shows that it has not even shipped yet. Multiple calls, emails, and texts to the company, their phone goes into voice mail every time, with one response text that they will check the status and get back to me. That was four days ago, I've tried to contact them every day since and they have gone radio silent.

Received my GARMIN FENIX 6 Pro Solar in the mail today. It arrived packaged very well and in great condition. Loving this watch already and all the options included. 😲 I did have a little snag with shipping on… this item as I previously requested 2 day shipping on this item and a day or two after UPS wasn’t showing that a pick up had been logged I emailed to inquire about the status of my watch. They responded very quickly to my email and jumped right on looking into the issue. They were gracious enough to refund me the amount I paid on shipping since I did not receive it timely

I attempted calling the shop today and got an automated system. I just hung up and figured I’d attempt at a later time. Shortly after I received a text from the shop apologizing about missing my call and I could text any question. I texted about a tire and a couple mins later they had it at the desk waiting my arrival. Awesome customer service!

A friend recommended me to hit up Joey at Take a Hike to help build a bike, glad I took his recommendation!! So I brought in my own parts, he never tried to sell me on anything, was up front, super cool dude, didn't feel like your average bike shop where there's a sales guy trying to convince you to buy their parts over the ones you brought in, felt more like just two riders hanging out talking about bikes! My new favorite shop!! Will be coming back soon with a second build!!

BUYERS BEWARE!!! Having the worst experience purchasing a helmet from Take a bike shop. Order was placed on 11/8. Received a tracking on the 14/8. Weeks have passed and It's the 27th today and still no helmet. Tracking info shows it didn't even leave St Charles, MO. Shipping label was created but USPS never got the item. I've emailed, called and texted these guys many times with zero response. At this point I don't even want the helmet anymore. I have no choice but to file a dispute with my credit card to hopefully get my money back.

Not a great experience at all. Seems like many people are having a similar bad experience with ordering online from Take a Hike. The fist problem is they don't stock the items they sell and so there is risk involved with them allocating stock on your order. With my order, they finally replied to my emails and let me know there was a delay. It was a grueling experience and I finally cancelled my order. I still don't have a refund. So, I basically purchased a "virtual" product at this point. Thanks Take a Hike - that's nice of you.

Not sure how the in-store experience is, but i did not have good experience ordering from this store online. I put in order for a camping gear to get ready for a trip. When i placed an order, the website listed that the item was available and i will get the product on time. A couple days after the order was confirmed, i got an email letting me know that the item i ordered was back-order... They said they are still expecting the shipment the early following week so i texted, called and emailed them to let them know i would keep the order if they can get the item delivered to me on time. Never heard

I have never been treated with disrespect as I have with Take a Hike. I purchased an expensive bike helmet 2 weeks ago and have been trying to contact them to order another helmet but smaller size. After several calls, emails, texts, and VMs not one reply back. I am realistic that it in a busy time it can take a few days at the most to get back to a customer but 2 weeks? I cannot be more disappointed. I hope others have a better experience than I did.
