Bergmann's award-winning work has been featured in several books and numerous publications, and his own gardens and others of his design have been included on The Garden Conservancy Tours for many years. Bergmann is the editor of the book Midwestern Landscaping, a comprehensive and practical guide to gardening in USDA Climate Zone 5, and he has also presented at lectures across the country.

At CBLD, we're serious about conserving natural resources, reducing waste, and maximizing ecological synergies between plantings. Recycling programs involving composting landscape debris and repurposing elements of the built environment. Our fleet of garden care vehicles is carefully maintained to minimize hydrocarbon emissions.
CBLD begins the design process by analyzing your current garden through site visits and interviews. After reviewing design options and approving a budget, materials and planting schemes are refined and detailed documents are drawn. The project designer then assembles the construction team and supervises all details throughout the installation of the project.
The proper construction of the garden is one of the most exciting steps and crucial to the garden's success. For CBLD-designed projects, our experienced Project Managers supervise every aspect of construction, from the coordination of contractors to the precise position of each stone. Then each plant is carefully placed, all installed by our expert horticulturists and plants-people.
Garden Care is the after-care service offered for CBLD projects, as well as other clients seeking the highest level of horticultural maintenance. The aesthetic direction of your garden is transferred from Craig to a team of expert horticulturists who customize a long-term maintenance plan. Garden Care preserves the original design intent while adapting the garden as it evolves over time.
