Melisande Atkinson is the owner-founder of Better Built Craftsman LLC, a local home improvement contractor that has been serving the Birmingham area since 2010. Before that, she ran a similar contracting business, MM&I, that focused on helping clients rebuild their homes following Hurricane Katrina. Kitchen and bathroom design has long been a passion of hers. She stays abreast of industry trends and design innovations in order to bring these innovations to her customers.

We can not suggest Better Built Craftsman enough. We used them to remodel our master bathroom, and Rocky, Tyler and Chris were all phenomenal. They communicated the whole time, took care of a lot of the logistics, and the work itself looks amazing. We had concern with some tile we picked out and Rocky even researched the best sealant for that tile and got some for us. He definitely goes out of his way for customers. We will definitely use them again!

I can’t recommend this company enough. I have used other people for other projects in my home and always been disappointed to some extent, so I was apprehensive about trying to find someone to take on this kitchen job.
But I read online reviews and decided to call Better Built Craftsman, and am glad I did.
This was a major kitchen renovation that could have taken a longer time and been a major disruption in my home but they worked neatly, steadily, and actually finished earlier than I anticipated, even though we added an extra room to be painted in the middle of the job.

Rocky, Tyler and crew did an awesome job on our full kitchen remodel. We went down to the floor joices and wall studs to fix several challenges. We love our kitchen and they did everything right on budget.
We also added a walk-in closet with red cedar wood organizers which had to be totally customized due to the odd room shape. Very impressive. I fully recommend them for any home building project if you want it done correctly.
