Stopped in here on the way home from the Spence Springs.
I'm not a wine snob by any means, but I didn't have high hopes. I'm happy to say this winery delivered.
We tried the Grenache, Viognier, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon and they are we're all very good. The Cab had won double gold in a NY competition so that was a good endorsement.
The tasting was free and I purchased a few as well.

Not a very welcoming place. My girlfriend and I bought 1 small HALF bottle, which only contain 2 small glasses of Grieslings between me and my girlfriend. Once we were done with our one glass, the owner or whoever she was (old lady in recent photos) insisted for us to leave after I bought another dessert bottle because there were 6 cops out in the road. She said she would get shut down if we got pulled over. NOT KIDDING
So weird because we had watched a couple who already had glasses given another bottle and were allowed to drink in her property. After reading the past reviews, I’ll let you

I was on the way back to Albuquerque from Jemez after a day of hiking. I saw a sign for Ponderosa Valley Winery and thought I might swing in a give it a try.
It is very easy to find from the main highway/road. Which is good because service in the area is spotty. The wine was good. I will give them that. But I got a big dose of "we don't want you here" energy for the short amount of time I was there.
You get 6 small samples for free. Whenever there is a free tasting at a winery, I feel like I HAVE to buy something to make up for it. So I did. A glass of wine and a bottle to bring

This is a mom & pop winery located at the foot of the Jemez mountains. The ranch house sits opposite the country store which is also the wine tasting area. You are nestled in acres and acres of vineyard. Bring a camera. The wine tasting area is small: six people would be a crowd. This is not your Napa Valley million dollar winery with a fancy wine steward. And that adds to its charm.
Park in front of the store. There is an old white, arthritic dog that will come to greet you -- wagging his tail is an effort. After a pat on the head he usually returns to his nap. Speaking of dogs

Enjoyed chatting with the owner. Disappointing that because of COVID-19 restrictions wine tastings weren't available. Not a wasted trip by all means. The winery is quaint and well maintained! The owner, Mary, is lovely. We had a wonderful chat! I left with two bottles of her fav pours WITHOUT tastings. She has two very friendly dogs. I left happily having had doggie kisses and wags ❣️

This place is a very lovely hidden gem. Anyone that could ever give this place less that it deserves in reviews is sad! The wines are amazing and so is Mary!!! She is a wealth of information and a lovely host!!! The wines are incredible and the grapes are grown from the oldest wine area in the US!! It’s well worth a stop on your way up the valles caldera or for hiking into secret canyon!!! Enjoy!!!

We. don't know a lot about wine except that we enjoy it. A recent trip across the country allowed us to get to this particular winery after 17 years. It was wonderful. The wine, the winery, the "girls" that greeted us at the door, and the hostess, were everything we anticipated and more. liked it so much that I needed to write this review twice. More stars required for their review. We will be back again, it is only a couple thousand miles. Worth every foot.

Great wine, cute dogs....bad service. I've been wanting to visit Ponderosa for many years. We finally made an effort to stop after a day up in the Valles Caldera. We were greeted by some beautiful very friendly dogs! We walked into the tasting room, no one was wearing masks. We waited and stood around like idiots, the server never asked if we would like to taste. I finally spoke up and asked for a taste. She poured the glass and then continued to ignore me. Another couple walked in and stood behind me as it was obvious I was waiting. The served ignored me and served them. I purchased two

Wish I could leave more stars. We are not wine people but we have been on our way to this place for 17 years and 2030 miles. If there is a way to anticipate this event I don't know what else I can say except it was the only pin in our cross country trip and it couldn't have been any more perfect. Cozy place with a hostess that was personable to the point of totally charming, she was interesting, witty and very generous with her humor and her knowledge. Truly a highlight to our trip.

I've wanted to visit this winery for 20 years. I was taking a drive through the Jemez yesterday when I did. Despite the statewide mask mandate, 3 people arrived the same time we did. They proudly displayed their Veteran Marine Corp license plate. All 3 entered without a mask. I waited outside until they took the bottle they purchased to a picnic table to consume. When I entered , the clerk/owner ? was also maskless. Amid cracking her gum and coughing, I did buy $73 worth of wine. I felt I was supporting local. Upon reflection , I am horrified at her actions. I will continue to boycott at every

I absolutely loved this stop after a day of hiking! The owner was friendly and pleasant. She knew all about the wines including what awards they have won and from where. Her dogs on the property are adorable, well behaved and sociable. This is the type of place you go to drink some wine, relax for a bit and visit. If you are in a rush you may want to skip this stop. But if you are looking for some wonderful wine in an eclectic atmosphere this is the place for you!!!

We stopped here after enjoying the local hot springs. The place is comfortable. There are two hugs dogs that greet you. There are cool sculptures on the property. There is a tasting room with a small bar that has about 6 seats. The proprietor was extremely nice and talkative. They offer 5 tastes of wine free of charge. My friend tasted 4 wines, and bought a bottle to take home. I tasted one wine and then bought a glass. There were other customers there who were friendly and talkative. Great atmosphere.

What a hidden gem in Jemez! WOW! This quaint & cozy winery is exactly what we were hoping to find. The vines had robust grapes hanging and we were greeted by the vineyard's furry 4-legged friends...
Ms. Mary is delightful and her standard is on-point: "We don't grow it if we can't pour it!" What a delight listening to her story and her sharing her passion for great wines with us... her knowledge of wine is spectacular! We left with 5 bottles of beautiful wines and more than a dozen handcrafted dark chocolate truffles--I'd say it was a fabulous visit! We will be

Enjoyed a wine tasting here during our annual friend car camping, hiking, and whatever extra fun things are available in the regions we visit! Really good tasting wine. I was pleasantly surprised because I never thought of New Mexico as being a wine making region ~ learn something new everyday, as they say.
The owner was a knowledgable woman about wine and a true dog lover ~ she rescues:) I'd still suggest you not think it's okay to bring your own furry friend into the mix, though; not all dogs get along with interlopers:) Be respectful, always...lol
I also had a couple of truffles

My wife and had a great afternoon enjoying the wine and visiting with the owner. We have visited this winery for years and always come away satisfied and entertained. The Wines are wonderful with plenty of choices for our palettes. Value for the wines is where I would expect to pay and left with some tasty Reds. As dog owners ourselves it's a treat to see their love of dogs, the Ponderosa pets happily visit each guest as they roam the grounds. I've read other reviews of "not dog friendly" and can only say it's not a dog park where dogs are welcome. Leave your dogs at home

Adorable! We visited after having lunch and taking a small hike to some Jemez waterfalls. The winery is also someone's home and it is very cute and comfortable inside the tasting room. There's dogs on the front porch, some old refurbished trucks out front and an extremely nice lady inside who doesn't even charge you for wine tasting. We like sweet (on the dessert side) wines and the Chamisa Gold and La Novia fit the bill. You can get a glass and enjoy on the property or take some to go. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

I enjoy going to Jemez Springs area for mountain biking and enjoying the beautiful area. I frequently would drive by the sign for Ponderosa Valley Winery, but only recently did I decide to make the 3 mile journey from the main road to the winery.
It's a very small little winery -- located on someone's property. The tasting room is very cute -- filled w/ New Mexican and country kitsch -- the proprietor is a woman that takes pride in her wine.
She has a list of about 12 wines to try -- complimentary tasting. I recall about 4 of the wines were produced from vines there at the
