Here at Casa Abril, we are firm believers of Vivir meaning not only 'To Live' but, more importantly, To Celebrate! Beneath the blue skies and within the natural folds of the New Mexico desert, a doorway from long ago opens to a new oasis born from a wine lovers passion. The lush and vibrant vineyards of Casa Abril create a new chapter in the 400 year old Vigil/Romero legacy, bringing into focus the spirit of Raymond Vigil and his family.
Combining the music of laughter, the closeness of family and the desire to produce a successful product, Casa Abril Vineyards and Winery is more than its fragrant, well-rounded wine; it is a Spanish Family experience. Casa Abril began in 2001 under the care and direction of Raymond and Sheila Vigil.

Best Wine Tasting.
Exceptional Wines!!
Our Italian family will regularly use his mail order service.
Raymond the owner is a top wine maker.
He has won many awards over a long time.
So glad we spent the sunny afternoon driving over.
Learned a lot and laught much over his great European stories.
He served fine chocolates and nuts with each wine taste.
We are from Arizona and N. Carolina.
So happy we called at the last minute and he fit us in for a private tasting.
Our Favorites:
2018 Tempranillio
2018 Sanglovese

A must visit! I visited today and Raymond was such a great host for a wine tasting. Truly a family run business! Trying all 11 wines is only $15, and you get Marcona almonds and chocolate to go with the tasting. If he didn’t think a bottle was fresh enough, he would open a new one. I’ve done tastings in various areas of the country and this was probably the best! Highly recommend it, and it is just off the highway and very convenient to get to.

We visited this winery in 2016 and all their wines were delicious. We had a case sent home and are still working through a few bottles. You just open the 2014 bottle of zinfandel and it is amazing. It is so smooth and so flavorful with no harsh overtones and I'm not a red wine person. if you are in that area you should definitely make a stop there.

If you only visit one winery in New Mexico, it must be this one. It is a small family business with a family history back to the 1500s. This is true New Mexico. All of the wines are estate grown and pure varietals - no blends. You can't find the wines in restaurants or stores - only at the winery. We Live in Placitas, NM and drove the 20 miles north to spend a wonderful Sunday afternoon with the owner Raymond learning abourt his family history and their wines as well as other wines in the state. The wines were splendid and we are sad that we did not discover this hidden gem sooner. We support NM

So disappointed! Traveling through from Texas to Santa Fe...saw the 5-star review for Casa Abril Winery on July 5th. Checked the googlevsearch prior to going a little bit out of our way...it said “open”...when we got there, the gate was closed and no one answered the phone when we called. We did not check the website (which did say they were closed)...but relied on the search info....seems like there should be a way to have search sync up with the true hours...

Absolutely the best presentation we have ever experienced. Raymond the owner will take you on a journey from past to present on the history of the vineyard. His animated personality keeps you focused on the wine while learning the differences on what you are tasting. The wines are phenomenal! Please make this a stop you won't be disappointed.

We have been to hundreds of wineries in several states and I can honestly say that none have been more fun to visit than Casa Abril. We are from Ohio, just visiting in Albuquerque for the weekend, and decided to check out Casa Abril. We find out that owner and vineyard manager Raymond once worked as a orderly at the hospital in Hamilton, Ohio where my wife and I were born! We tasted the full run of estate grown tempranillo, malbec, and zinfandel wines, each of which seemed more delicious than the previous one. I would be proud to serve any of them to even the most discriminating wine enthusiast
