We want to acknowledge Helgesons Place in downtown Orofino, Idaho as the place to stay when away...
After our online (Orbitz) reservation company abandoned us 600 miles from home, we had to find reservations for five nights 12 hours from home on a weekend that say EVERY HOTEL WITHIN A 100 MILE RADIUS booked solid for several special events.
The manager of Helgesons took our situation seriously and went out of her way to see we had accommodations, even though we played musical rooms (multiple room changes) we had a place to stay, even though the event we had to travel for was a funeral and not

Stayed here 2 nights for a wedding in town. Check in was great, Christy was very accommodating and friendly. She was fantastic. She got us a box fan because there was no air flow in the bedroom of the suite we booked. The room was still being cleaned when we checked in at 5 and our entire stay it smelled like pennies due to the construction crew that had stayed there just prior to us. The room itself was nicely appointed, large space and beds were very comfortable! However the carpet felt sticky like they had been cleaned but not properly extracted. We had a discrepancy with the front desk calling

NOT pet friendly $20.00 per night fee not explained in booking.
The worst ever shower if you could get to work.
Toilet did not flush with holding handle.
Pillows are very small 16 inch square.
AC unit loud and cheap it was a window style from Lowes for $120.00.
The breakfast was a joke and if your not down there first it will be all gone.
DONT STAY THERE

Great place. My sister and I were stranded in Orofino and I ended up buying a room here for the night. Great rooms, awesome location and all at a very reasonable price!

This place has pretty decent rooms, breakfast wasn't much but good, I did feel it was a little bit more pricey then it was worth. They should put on their website more clearly that they are ONLY PETFRIENDLY in pet friendly rooms because on a lot of sites it says they are pet friendly with a fee so when we booked we assumed any room since there is a fee? They said they would allow it just this once , our dog is a very clean good dog so I wasn't worried . Also good to know if you bring your dog there is no grass around the building we just walked our dog over to the baseball field

Filthy room. Toilet had brown on back of seat and under seat. The cabinet next to the toilet was splattered with I don't even want to know, and had boogers all over it. The bathroom floor behind the toilet had dark chunks. There was thick yellow at bottom of toilet. The sink had pink mildew and mold around the drain, as did the kitchen sink. The kitchen is a bit of a joke. Don't plan to cook! No utensils or silverware and one plate that was chipped. The silverware draw was disgusting and had bugs in it. The fridge had food on the handle, as did the walls. The carpet is super stained

Room was very nice and very clean. It obviously is an older hotel that has been renovated but was nice and we would stay there again. However, breakfast was not served til 730am and they charged $20 night for a small dog which really seemed high to me. Parking is difficult if you have a boat or trailer.

From the moment I called to book this hotel (in an emergency situation, our truck and camper were broken down in Orofino), I felt welcome. They are a pet friendly hotel in the middle of town! You can hardly tell it is a hotel, it looks like a regular brick building with businesses in the lobby, but they take hospitality seriously.
The room was super spacious and comfortable, and the kitchenette was great (although pretty sparsely stocked). A full fridge and freezer, just when I needed one! My family of 5 (including one Yellow Lab) relaxed the minute we walked in, after a very stressful day

Located in downtown in an older building the Helgeson was a great find as we were passing through Orofino.

We were in a large kitchenette suite. King bed, full size couch and flat screen in the main room; queen bed in a separate room.

The room was clean and well kept and the beds were comfy.

There was a quirky, old school elevator servicing the building and it all just added to the charm.

Do not be fooled by the appearance from the outside. The hotel was built in 1925, but has been completely remolded inside. The rooms are large and clean, with comfortable beds, fast wifi, cable tv and kitchenettes in the room. The bathrooms are spotless and roomy. You can look out the windows and watch all of downtown. The maid service was excellent and promp. Very enjoyable stay.

We reserved a deluxe suite for Christmas and Christmas eve. The staff was not here after noon on CEve and only for a bit in the morning the day of but that was okay because we didn't need anything.

She unlocked the gate to the hot tub (padlocked, outside) for us when we asked (but it was kind of annoying to have to ask). Room was nice, great value. Everything was clean, especially the bathroom. Nice to have a kitchenette, especially since everything in town except the nearby Sunset mart gas station was closed for the holiday. Really comfortable bed with comfortable pillows. Used the King
