J.W. Smith Auto Body started in 1981 as a small 2 person 4 bay shops located in Elliottsburg, PA. After 3 years of working out of this location, a new shop was build in 1984 to accommodate the growing customer base. The new location has 5 body bays, 2 frame bays, and 2 paint bays. Over the years, as the population in Perry County and the customer base grew the shop needed more room.
In the spring of 2005, the shop added on and a lot of the old equipment was replaced with newer and more efficient equipment. This equipment helps to deliver the quality of work that our customers expect and in a timely fashion. The new addition has 9 body bays, 4 paint bays, and a dedicated frame area.

I want to give a huge shout out to J. W. Smith for helping me after my car wreck. Andrew and Shelby Smith are the best people I know! They walked me through step by step. I felt like the insurance company was trying to bully me and they were a huge help in moving forward. I am so glad to have the help and knowledge that they do to back me up. I would have been so lost without them. They towed my vehicle and had me in a rental in less than a day! I did not have to worry about finding a ride to work or going anywhere. This was the best auto body experience I've had in 20 years! Andy was able to restore my car to original condition after the collision damage. He identified and repaired pre-existing damage created by another shops incomplete repair from a previous accident. I will only take my cars to this shop in the future.

Just want to let you know how far and above Andy at JW Smith Auto Body went to help out a stranger calling from Los Angeles. Didn't get car work done there, but needed confirmation on location of an old cemetery located next door to their business. He took the crazy call, we brainstormed to confirm that this was the correct cemetery with my family plots and offered to walk over to confirm. His kindness and compassion blew me away. Am new to the area and don't know anyone here, which means flying somewhat blind and needing to find new places to have everything from vehicle maintenance & repair to personal maintenance & repair done...Saw several positive comments here and there about the quality of the work that comes out of the J W Smith shop. I'd hit a porcupine that I swear was the size of a Blue Heeler dog, and it displaced the plastic shrouding under the front end of my car--and I needed to make 1400 mile [round trip] three days after that shrouding dropped down and was rubbing on the front wheel...I

I can not say enough good things about JW Smith Auto Body. Andy helped my family through a terrible situation. I was hit from behind by a mac truck and just figured that was the end of our van. I went with the preferred shop recommended by my insurance company and quickly realized I made a mistake. I called Andy and he agreed to take the vehicle. After some convincing to the insurance company I had the car moved to JW Smith and they got the van already torn apart.
