STAY AWAY FROM NEWREZ & SHELLPOINT MORTGAGE THEY ARE REALLY HORRIBLE!!!
I contacted them over a month ago for covid assistance. They sent me an email which the name of a contact person and it said they would be reaching out to me. Never heard from anyone! I called in and the lady did my application on the phone because she said she can see where I initiated the process but nothing was ever done on their end. She told me it would take two days and then I would be in the program and not to worry. I called in just to double check several days later and was told that it is still being processed

Thomas Vandeventer promises the moon. Then he misses his self-imposed deadline, does not provide what he said, does not return phone calls and does not return e-mails. Other than that, he's the bomb when it comes to mortgage brokers. I guess his cushy job allows for that "service" level. I'd move in another direction! (and will)

They do not care at all about their customers. We have tried endlessly to get our PMI removed after going through every step and meeting all the requirements necessary and they continue to refuse to remove it, and to make matters worse you cannot speak to anyone in their loan servicing department, only customer service and they are never able to help with the problem. Incredibly disappointing company.

Phenomenal mortgage company!

My mortgage was transferred to New Rez. I haven't had any issues with the company until recently. I contacted them by phone and email to advise them that since I had bought the adjacent property and merged them, there was now a new APN number. After I received a tax property bill, I contacted New Rez but they were still using the old number and were unaware. So I sent the new documents and was told they would review my case. I'm still in limbo and hoping that they pay the new property tax bill on time.

We have been with NewRez since they took over our loan (like often happens through the life of a mortgage). They have been very solid to deal with. We have had a few little bumps in the road -- when we refinanced back in 5/2020 and again here recently but issues are always resolved even though there is frustration. Given we were already with them, the refi made sense and we got a low rate with no escrow given the equity we already had in the home. It was the beginning of the pandemic and they did a nice job keeping things on track, including closing.

SOOO hard to get a hold of someone if you have any questions. They keep jumping you between menus for 10 minutes.
I was with Quicken loans and had the best customer service and easy to use web portal for payments and such, then unfortunately my loan was sold to this horrible company with their awful website and customer service.

After carrying my mortgage for 5 years they all of the sudden raised my escrow payment by $300, after multiple call I was told a specialist would look into it, but I had to continue to pay the extra $300 so my loan wouldn't default. Called back many times and was told in was being worked on, 8 months later it still wasn't resolved. Finally refinanced with another company and magically had a $2000 ver payment to my escrow.

The word "Hassle" comes to mind. I understand they are regulated by laws but they should know those laws by now and be aware of ways to make the refinancing as easy as possible for all concerned. When it was all said and done, we were pleased with the results, but boy getting there was tough.

As a mortgage lender, I think NewRez is pretty solid. Their online portal is easy to use and automatic payments are a cinch. They also did a good job during our refinance with little hassle. Their most recent update to their fee schedule was wild and included some absurd fee hikes. I inquired about them and received decent to poor responses. But so far, it does not look like these fees have been assessed. I'm not sure why they did all that - truly odd.
