Contact dermatitis is a skin reaction that occurs after you have been exposed to a substance that either irritates your skin or triggers an allergic response. If your skin condition is caused by contact with an irritating or harsh substance, you have primary irritant contact dermatitis. Irritant contact dermatitis results from toxic irritation of the skin usually resulting from exposure to generous amounts of an offending agent.
Patch testing is a way of identifying whether a substance that comes in contact with the skin is causing inflammation of the skin (contact dermatitis). There are two types of contact dermatitis: irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis. If you have a dermatitis that started recently or if you have a persistent or unusual eczema, your dermatologist may suspect you have an allergic contact dermatitis.
Very simply, sunburn and UV light can damage your skin, and the damage can lead to skin cancer. There are of course other determining factors, including your heredity and the environment you live in. However, both the total amount of sun received over the years, and overexposure resulting in sunburn can cause skin cancer.
Americans spend billions of dollars each year on skin care products that promise to erase wrinkles, lighten age spots, and eliminate itching, flaking, or redness. But the simplest and cheapest way to keep your skin healthy and young looking is to stay out of the sun. Sunlight is major cause of the skin changes we think of as aging - changes such as wrinkles, dryness, and age spots.
Association with contact to the suns rays causes precancerous skin growths called solar keratoses. Applying sunscreen every day rather than only on sunny ones makes a big difference when it comes to fighting the early signs of skin cancer. A new study shows that daily use of sunscreen is much more effective than occasional use in preventing precancerous skin growths.

Within a matter of 15 minutes I was diagnosed, treated and on my way!! . Laura assured me my skin condition was benign and exceedingly common. Two previous "specialists" were convinced that what was irritating me was wildly cancerous and one went as far as to insist on full blown surgery. It was being equated to an iceberg, that there was likely a mass underneath what appeared outwardly on my skin. (Unreal !) Laura carried out a very minor, painless procedure within a matter of minutes. I had no discomfort nor irritation afterwards or in the days that followed. An independent biopsy confirmed Laura

We recently moved to the Tampa area from Michigan. I had been going to the same dermatologist (P.A.) for 25 years! I loved her! I was so worried I would never find that here. Luckily, I did! Laura is amazing! She knowledgeable & makes you feel so comfortable! The office staff is great, too! Everyone is so kind and helpful. I’m so glad I found this office!

Dr. Laura was so kind and was able to turn my day around! She was very thorough and made me feel normal for having a bad rash I was quite embarrassed about. I am very pleased with her expertise and kind hearted nature! If she practiced family care, I would be very comfortable seeing her on a regular basis.
The office staff was also amazing! I wish I could remember everyone’s name to give them a shoutout directly. Thank you so much for making me feel so at ease walking into your office! 10/10!

This place is fantastic ... especially Laura Millns. I'm not a huge fan of doctors' offices, these guys (and gals) are awesome ... organized, efficient, on time, knowledgeable, etc. (Did I say on time? That's a lost art in the medical profession!) They do a great job, explaining any issues, making sure you understand, making their recommendations, making sure you understand those, and then letting you make your own decision. I don't leave many reviews ... because honestly few companies impress me well enough to warrant doing so ... but I'm a very happy patient of Derm Associates of TB (Laura Millns

Can't say enough good things about this practice. From the moment you walk in and greeted by the office staff and how efficient they are to the actual visit. My go to is Laura. Every time I see her, I know I am getting the best care ever. The assistants that help Laura are just super. To me this is the best dermatology practice. Thanks to the whole group that takes care of me.
