We know through carbon dating of artifacts that Native Americans lived on Long Island for over 4,000 years. The Montauketts of Montauk were a peaceful tribe who hunted, fished and farmed the land, keeping cattle and sheep. The first white settler to set foot on Montauk was Dutch explorer Adrian Block.

Welcome to montauk my home that is friendly 90% ok 5% and scary the other 5% here we strive to live life like a normal town to bad after june we are flooed with drunk teens rich rude old people and celebrities who think they own the place . Now when you come here to remmber to treat the locals like animals or winy old men (i know asking for you not to shoot firework at 12 at night is a hard task ) but in the end montauk is one thing its not the Hamptons no matter how hard they try to make us like them so have fun SO HEY WELCOME TO MONTAUK NOW GET OUT

I was surprised when I was told I couldn’t bring my dog to an outside event where dogs are normally allowed. There is no justification for this rule. I just hope they aren’t discriminating against those who have a disability and are using a service dog.

This is your typical cheese beach town. The businesses here caterer to beach goers. Montauk, unlike the other towns on the east end, is very dog UNFRIENDLY.
We fared better with our furry child in South Hampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, Bridge Hampton and pretty every other town in the area. The restaurants are better a little west too.

Elizabeth J is a cheese ball that has nothing better to do but complain about places that are "dog unfriendly"
