Joe has practiced law for more than 40 years and his specialty has always been DUI and DMV case. Indeed many of the young attorneys in our area, were schooled by Joe. Joe VanDervoort is the only lawyer north of Sacramento and south of Eureka who is a specialist member of the California DUI Lawyers Association (CDLA) which is the oldest and largest DUI organization in the United States.

My wide range of experience includes criminal defense as a private attorney, being Deputy County Counsel for Colusa County, and both teaching law and serving as counsel at California State University Chico, all of which serve me well in providing the best defense possible for each of my clients. If you are arrested or cited for DUI or any alcohol-related case or a serious traffic violation, DON'T DELAY talking to an attorney. The DMV will suspend or revoke your license prior to your court date for up to three years or more without a hearing. You have no right to a public defender at the DMV.

I'm just really disappointed with my experience with this office. They really let me down. I gave Mr. Bently $5,000 to write court documents for me. Although this was a lot of money I was confident that he knew what he was doing. I had to constantly call the office to get him to work on it(around 50 calls) most of the time i was unable to reach him. He said himself that he would need me on the phone while he worked on it, So he only spent a couple hours on my documents. 1 year later my documents were denied and mr Bently said it would cost me another $1500 to appeal it. I was homeless and broke
