We hope this information gives you a sense of "who we are" as well as "what we do." Many of our therapists have specialized interests and expertise, which you can find next to their photo below. Salena is the founder of Healthy Mind Counseling. Her goal is to bring healing and mental wellness to our local community by making trauma informed mental health care more accessible.
The mind can often heal itself naturally, in the same way as the body does. Much of this natural coping mechanism occurs during sleep, particularly during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Francine Shapiro developed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 1987, utilizing this natural process in order to successfully treat Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Brain imaging can show this process in action, as EMDR assists all cognitive, emotional and even physical - "body memory" - elements to resolve safely. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of therapy significantly quicker and with fewer sessions. More than 30 positive controlled outcome studies have been done on EMDR therapy.
Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with bilateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing.
Bilateral Music, used in therapies such as EMDR and Brainspotting, is specially designed to move from one ear to the other. A relaxation effect including decreased physiological arousal. 2. Increased attentional flexibility (meaning that your thoughts become less 'stuck' on whatever was bothering you).

I phoned Healthy Minds back in August 2021 left a message that I was looking for some counseling help for my Anxiety and Depression that was escalating. I phoned on a Monday morning and got a return call that afternoon I gave my information and was told that she would find out which of her 10 counselors could help me and would call me back on Tuesday or for sure Wednesday. After no response by the next Monday I phoned again and was told she thought she could get me in with Beth but would call me tomorrow for sure with the answer as to whom could help me. I have NEVER GOTTEN ANY RETURN CALL. I would

This place is great! My three children and I love our therapists. Everyone at this office is so friendly. The office is very clean and professional. They have done a fabulous job updating the new place. If you are looking for a counselor and talk therapy hasn't worked for you like it hasn't worked for me give this place a try and work with a therapist who does processing.

I really like working with Salena. I did EMDR which alleviated most of my symptoms. Then more recently I have done brianspotting with her and that helped a lot too. I have seen her colleagues at times when she isn't available and they are great as well. I am sad to be discharging but grateful to have worked with her. Highly recommend Healthy Mind!

Due a situation, our family has sought assistance of mental health professionals. And... we've met alot of them. Salena is by far the most helpful counselor we've encountered. Myself and the kids both find her to be personable, present, and great at helping us understand what's happened and how it's making us feel. In addition to the therapy she provides, she is always referring us to other professionals, giving us names of community resources, and offering recommendations to help us get back to a place of wellness. I admittedly wasn't sure about EMDR therapy before we started, but I am floored

I am very thankful I started EMDR counseling at Healthy Mind with Salena. It has changed my life. She is a fantastic counselor. I really enjoy her personality and she has a great deal of experience to help me with all my issues. She is caring and helpful in getting to the root of my issues. I so appreciate her guidance and advice. I would totally recommend her to anyone that needed help!!

The Counselor I was seeing called me by the wrong name during numerous sessions. I wasn’t happy with my sessions so I found somewhere else to go. The first few sessions were ok, I feel like the counselor didn’t really listen or remember what I said. I found myself repeating things a lot and “helping her remember”
