Newman provides students from broadly diverse backgrounds an opportunity to pursue serious studies in a welcoming and supportive environment where self and community are paramount. A vibrant program of activities and sports provides students with opportunities for personal growth beyond the classroom.

The Newman School of Boston, celebrating its 75 anniversary in the heart of the Back Bay of Boston, is a welcoming vibrant learning community. From grades 7-12, Newman's middle and high school years International Baccalaureate curriculum (IB) is the point of entry for curious, independent, outward-looking students.
Though we are saddened that we cannot move forward with the event at this time, we plan to honor Harry and Patty Lynch's incredible legacy of service to Newman and kick off the school's 75th Anniversary in the spring of 2022. Though it was a difficult decision. We feel it was in the best interest of safety.
The Newman School was founded in 1945 by the late Dr. J. Harry Lynch and a group of colleagues, all alumni of Boston College. Naming their school after the greatly admired John Henry Cardinal Newman, the founders started out by educating young men returning from military service at the end of World War II, and gradually expanded to serve young men and women in their high school years.
The IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. It encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The Newman School's faculty and staff are at the heart of what drives learning, excellence, and achievement both inside and out of the classroom. Whether it's teaching a particularly spirited group of students, coaching a sport or activity, or leading a service group, Newman's faculty and staff inspire their students by example and through sharing their own passions.
