Clayshire Castle
Escape the chaos and stress of the modern world at Clayshire Castle, a medieval-style bed and breakfast in the tranquil countryside of western central Indiana. Here our guests are treated like royalty with luxurious accommodations and gourmet breakfasts. Innkeepers Lord Douglas and Lady Josephine are ready and waiting to help arrange your visit - from relaxing getaways to exploring local attractions.

Enjoy a stroll in the gardens, wander through the hedge maze, hike the trails on our 120 acre property, take a soak in the aromatic cedar hot tub, or curl up with a good book in the library. We even have over 100 medieval costumes to add just the right touch to your visit or event at our Bowling Green, Indiana bed and breakfast.
Services
Curl up with a good book. We have something for everyone - classics, medieval references, mysteries, children's books, and more. Explore hiking trails, have a picnic, or even see waterfalls. The castle is close to Cagles Mill Lake Dam, Cataract Falls, Lieber State Recreation Area, and McCormick's Creek State Park.
Please contact us directly to book an event. The Great Hall can accommodate up to 100 guests; Saturday package rentals with more than 100 people will be required to rent an outdoor tent. Sorry, but we cannot accommodate pets or animals under any circumstances. Clayshire Castle is a non-smoking property.

My Wife and I went for our 2nd wedding anniversary and had a blast. The grounds, the castle, the rooms... fantastic! Well worth the price for a medieval experience in the Midwest. Unplug, unwind. A hidden gem to behold!

The Castle is beautiful and there were lots of activities to participate in. My daughter was a vendor there (she makes jewelry) and did pretty well.
The weather was darn near perfect. Lots of folks in costume (tho', not all were "Medieval"). Fun place to spend lots of $$$.

I have visited the Clayshire Castle during the Renaissance Fair (SUPER cool)! However, while I definitely recommend checking the place out, I also want to inform any potential renters that it is very important to clarify every detail of their stay at the castle. I attended my sister's wedding here, and I witnessed the owner's lack of clear communication regarding her contract. This led to much unnecessary stress and many tears for the bride-to-be. So, while the venue is quite extravagant, make sure to highlight your expectations, ask any question you may have regarding your contract, and be sure

We loved this place. They gave us a grand tour of all five rooms. The yard is wonderful. We stayed in the the wine cellar room and loved it. They have a library and DVDs, but who needs them. This is a place to just sit or walk and experience it. Lord Douglas and Lady Josephine are delightful hosts!

Absolutely loved Clayshire Castle! The host and hostess were very lovely and welcoming. The castle itself is gorgeous, the pictures on the website are good but the castle looks so much better in person. You'll learn random little midevil facts from the owners and enjoy comfortable beds/rooms and an amazing meal cooked by the lady of the house. We will definitely be back in the summer so we can explore the 128 acres with trails and a pond. Highly recommend going here at least once!
