Rachel K's Bakery was founded in 2010 by owner, Rachel Midgette. She began baking pastries and breads in her home and selling at local Farmer's Markets. By 2013, she had sub-leased a small kitchen from a coffee shop and began selling her baked goods in a retail shop. In 2014, Rachel had the opportunity to purchase a historic building in downtown Washington, North Carolina.
The building needed extensive renovations- having been built in 1884 and vacant since 1982 - but after much hard work Rachel K's Bakery opened up in March of 2015 in its new home on Market Street in Washington, NC. Rachel's vision of providing fresh baked, scratch made pastries, breads, sweets, and meals has come true.

After spending a night shivering in a cold tent for the NC Coastal Ride, I would have been satisfied with anything. But Rachel K's was delicious beyond words. Their coffee not only warmed me, but made my taste buds dance and sing. Their pastries (of which I had several) had a bewitching aroma, and a taste that was even better. The friendliness of the staff made me feel very welcome, even though they had never met me. I recommend Rachel K's very highly. If you visit Washington NC, you MUST try their baked goods.

Wow, I was blown away by this place. Traveling up and down the east coast and came across this gem by chance. So happy I did as it was among the best pastry I have ever eaten, anywhere around the world.
Had the orange roll and lemon almond pastry and they were both to die for. The iced latte was perfectly made as well.
If you are ever in this area, do not miss this place.

We made a pit stop in Washington, NC on our way to Florida. We looked up breakfast places and Rachel K’s came up. We were so happy we stopped in. We got a chocolate croissant, a spinach croissant, and a bacon… egg and cheese biscuit. YUMMY! We also got a coffee and a mocha latte. All were wonderful. The two people working behind the counter were friendly and helpful. We also bought some treats for the road! I highly recommend a visit here if you’re visiting. If you live there, lucky you!!

Tried things from their bakery and was highly impressed! The brownies are DELICIOUS. They are cakey and not too sweet.. perfection. The tiramisu was also very good! We got a variety of things and everyone loved everything. I tried one of their frappes, a vanilla frappe with carmel syrup added and you could tell it had fresh ingredients. A little pricey but you get fresh products that are made with love.

I called from Maryland to ask if they could deliver something to my Moms house for Mothers Day. My Mom was thrilled when they came to her door. She hasnt tried everything but what she did try was delicious. The people that took my order and delivered were very friendly. You went above and beyond. Thank you so much.

Rachel K's is a breath of fresh air for a small town that has little to no coffee options or freshly made baked goods. Their lattes are great and any of their made from scratch muffins, cupcakes, cinnamon buns, sandwiches, etc will not steer you wrong. So happy this place exists so when I come see my parents I can go and grab a latte. Thank you!!

I had the Carmel mocha latte and it was easily the best latte I've ever had in my life. I got the large and added an extra shot. So creamy and delicious. I also got some sort of tomato pesto baked item and a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. My boyfriend and I split them and both agreed they were great as well. Customer service was awesome. Will be back!

Was in Little Washington and craving soup for some reason. So so happy this little gem of a bakery popped up in my Google search. Wish I lived closer. Would definitely make this place a regular on my list. Got veggie soup and 1/2 a BLT on Gruyere bread with pimento cheese for lunch. Cost about $7.00. Tasted so good I went back in after and got a whole loaf of Gruyere along with 16 oz. of the pimento cheese and another 16 oz. of chicken salad to boot. That cost about $35.00. Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight? Lol

This place is so cute and is a great place to grab a treat in Washington! We loved the M&M cookie, cinnamon roll, and chocolate croissant. The cookie was a bit hard but was very flavorful.
The chocolate croissant was flakey, buttery, and filled with SO MUCH CHOCOLATE!! Our treats were so tasty, and we will definitely be back!

We stop here for the AMAZING bakery goods every time we stay at our river house in Bath. We drive over to Little Washington several times each week just to visit Rachel K's. We love the coffee and we love lunch here. I often get the sweet potato/ham biscuit or the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. The best service of any place in this beautiful town. Totally professional, eager to please and always someone with a smile willing to help if there's a question!
One final reason we love Rachel K's - she gives back to this community by giving the extra food at the end of the day to

Lunch is always the same offerings, but they are always so great. Their baked goods cannot be beat. I'm not a huge fan of the coffee (the Counter Culture brand has never really worked for me), but it's acceptable.
The granola bars are actually a really good deal. I've weighed them, and ounce-for-ounce, you pay less than for high-end manufactured bars like Clif or KIND. I usually grab a couple to take with me on long bike rides.
