With the construction of a dam across the Kansas River in 1874, new opportunities arose to utilize this fresh source of power.
Thus began a long-lasting relationship with the community that laid the foundations for an enduring and prosperous company. A paper mill, the first constructed west of the Mississippi, soon followed that made wrapping paper from straw. The straw was cooked for 18 hours in vats on the top floor of the mill and then chopped thoroughly.

First ones at the door at 7AM. In and out in an hour, only took 20 to 25 minutes minutes to unload. Had to microwave some hot water to unfreeze the lock you put on the trailer, it being 25 degrees outside with a real feel of 19 I believe. We do want to say thank you to the company for letting us park overnight and getting us taken care of quickly, we appreciate it.
