Services
Our office is located in a beautiful, relaxed setting adjacent to the Petoskey State Park. Our patients enjoy taking in the peaceful wooded views from the exam rooms where they are treated to visits from a wide variety of birds and other wildlife who make northern Michigan their home. All the people there are very knowledgeable, efficient, listen to my interrogatives.
For your comfort and optimum health outcomes we use leading edge technology for diagnosing and treating conditions related to your oral health. Our cone beam CT captures low-dose, high-quality digital CT images for dental medicine. This state-of-the-art process delivers high-quality panoramic, paranasal sinus, temporal bone, or dental images that just aren't possible with traditional CT.
The word "periodontal" literally means "around the tooth." Periodontal disease (also known as "gum disease, " "pyorrhea" or "periodontal infection") is an ongoing bacterial infection in the gums and bone around your teeth. This infection leads to an inflammation under the gums, and if not treated, the inflammation can destroy the bone and ligament structures that support the teeth.
Approximately 75% of all adult tooth loss is due to periodontal disease. When your gums and bone are damaged by periodontal infection, there is less support for your teeth. As this support disappears, your teeth first become loose and then can be lost. When your dentist recommends periodontal treatment, it is important to get started right away.
Periodontal disease leads to inflammation of the gums. This inflammatory bacteria then enters your bloodstream and travels throughout your body. Researchers have linked this process to a number of serious medical conditions. It is important to treat periodontal disease as quickly as possible to avoid the release of bacteria into your bloodstream.

I am a "regular" client at Northern Periodontics as a result of trouble from services rendered elsewhere a long time ago. Every single staff person is consistently competent, friendly and timely. Dr. McGraw exudes confidence and compassion and I am so grateful to everyone at this practice for making me feel so comfortable and well cared for.
