So after hearing and seeing a lot of negative comment I went there for my birthday it was a kind of small group party but I must say that the food was 10/10. Every time reviews are not sufficient to judge. Above all the owner showed her sweet gesture and offered free dessert to us 💕. Earlier also we been there and had a great time So looking forward to going again 😍 . Thank you, Rekha !

While driving around our childhood town, we stumbled on Monsun. It was 2:11 pm and they closed at 3.
We were welcomed in and ordered two korma dishes - vegetable and mushroom, Papadum and a chickpea appetizer I did not catch the name of which came out promptly in generous portions.
As we were reminiscing the time rolled by and when I asked for rasmalai for dessert the kitchen was closed and only one woman remained.
We realized it was 3:30 and the lunch shift ended at three. As we paid the bill - a serving of rasmalai magically appeared.
We had found a restaurant where the food was delicious

Definite not recommended for parties. They have Pathetic and Arrogant staff and manager. No arrangement for disposing used cups. Water and food was not refilled regularly and on time. Not kids friendly staff. We had a party and they did not give proper arrangements for disposing the cups and plates in-spite of asking for it. After party they expected the tables to be clear of all the cups, floor to be clean. Although they had been in restaurant business for long time yet while hosting a party they could not provide the basic service of cleaning tables, arranging for disposal of used cutlery and

We booked this place for Diwali party, had unpleasant experience, on top the rude owner & waiter.
Here is a quick review-
1. Snacks:
Tea- Extremely bitter. Didn't expect this from an Indian restaurant. I preferred to skip.
Pakodas: Ok in taste but imagine one buffet bowl for a party of approx. 50+ppl. and kids with time limitations & delays in refills. We couldn't even think of a second round.
2. Starters:
The chicken starter was Ok but veg. (Paneer Tikka) served late & refilled once. Veggies had a bad time waiting.
3. Drinks:
Juice -2 small packs/ crates were provided

We had arranged our Diwali party, and here is our experience for everyone who is even thinking of hosting party at this location:
1) At the time of booking we were promised a speaker and mike by owner Rekha. Then during menu confirmation we were asked to buy up Karaoke system for additional charges, we said no, but still confirmed on speaker and mike with no extra charges. Although when we arrived on the day of party, we were told no speaker and mike will be given as we didn't buy Karaoke and it will be difficult to separate speakers from karaoke system as it's integrated. Now when all

I’m very happy Monsun restaurant because the food is great and, just as important, they have integrity. We booked a family party over a year ago just before the COVID outbreak. We had to cancel the party and the owner allowed us to leave our deposit to be used for food at a later date. Now, so many months later, even after so many restaurants have had a rough time, she honored our agreement and provided us with some outstanding food for a Halloween party this past weekend. The sog paneer, among other dishes, was so delicious. We will certainly be long term customers and can’t wait to eat there

Don't trust good reviews. I will negative stars if I can. Very rude owner. Sort by "lowest reviews first" to find the reality of this place.
We made google reservation and also called before arriving at restaurant. They didn't have table availability inside the restaurant. They asked us to sit out in open. We declined to sit outside in open on chilling night with a toddler child. There was no one sitting outside anyways . If restaurant didn't have table or had a private party going on, they should have declined the reservation or told us when we called before arriving

I thought I wasn't one for dishes with paneer in them, but it turns out I just hadn't tasted anything I liked. It was so good, I'm still thinking about it.
My mom is really hard to please when it comes to food. We went to some other swanky Indian restaurant out of town for her birthday last year (for a steeper price at that) and she had a lot of...comments. She doesn't pull punches.
At Monsun, she remarked that the food tastes so fresh and the seasoning is well-balanced and not too salty. She didn't have a single negative thing to say! We'll definitely be back.

It was my birthday dinner, was there with my husband and three daughters. I love Indian food. and Monsun exceeded my expectations. Great server and Everything was delicious. Also, unlike some other places, I can tell there was no MSG and not overly salty. I’m very sensitive to MSG and I’m so glad they didn’t put it in their dishes. They just used fresh ingredients, clean and healthy. Garlic naan was very fresh and garlicky which I personally liked. You may want to ask for light garlic to meet your taste. Indian spices are so good for ones brain and health, I encourage people to eat more of

Take out review:
Update: Aug 12, 2021
After my first review, I continued ordering from Monsun every other week. Over the time I discovered many outrageously tasty dishes like the Samosa Chaat, Nawabi Chicken Korma, Shrimp tikka masala. The Korma requires a special mention, probably the best tasting Korma that I can remember. Its so creamy and sweet, and the chicken almost melts in the mouth. I don’t find much bones in the Goat Biryani anymore either. Monsun has become one of my staple food places for take outs while working from home.

This is my second review and it just keeps on getting better and better each visit so I have to continue to rave.
The food, service and hospitality is taken so seriously. It's a business owner and employees that care about making each guest happy . We do not find that nearly enough in Bergen County. Please support this lovely Indian restaurant in River Edge. They deserve as much recognition as possible!! Thanks for yet another great meal.

February 2021 experience - Expensive! Pickup order was $50 for veg biryani, chicken tikka, naan & mulligatawny soup. Asked for mild spices, it was super hot. Woman (owner?) just sitting in back corner, staring, didn't greet me or even thank me when I left. Dark, dreary inside. Won't be back, plenty of other Indian places to try.

We enjoyed our dinner at Monsun. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. we were there on a Tuesday night, so we were the only ones indoor dining.. there were some outdoors, we chose indoors. Very nicely served. The Pakora and Samosas appetizers were very good as were the chickenTikka Masala Nawabi Chicken Korma main dishes. We hope post pandemic more people go to the restaurant and they are able to weather the downturn because of Covid. Very clean and safe.

I have passed by Monsun many times driving down Kinderkamack and always swore to try their food. We finally did this evening and I can confidently say that we will be repeat customers.
Since it was our first time ordering from them, I wasn't sure if certain dishes came with rice or what quantity of an item was in an order so I called a couple of times to ask and the gentleman on the line was very patient answering my questions.
We ordered the Garlic Naan - so good, Rogan Josh with lamb - super tender and flavorful, Chicken Tikka Masala - so delicious, Chicken Dum Biryani - definite must

Had the lunch special which is Veggie Combo for $8.99. The meal was very tasty and you get a lot with the combo. Two different vegetables plus a small salad, Basmati rice, Naan bread, Onion Pakoras and Tadka Dal. I also had their veggie Manchaw soup which was delicious. For the quality, quantity and the price it cannot be beat. They offer other lunch specials that include proteins for a dollar or two more. Definitely worth a visit!!!

First timer here .. food was good but not extra ordinary . One advantage of buffet is you get more, but one disadvantage is - it's not fresh . I would have preferred ala carte but they didn't have it. I had veggie only and it was a ok spread. My friend ms had meat and it was tasting good according to them. My review is for vegetarians :)
Spinach paneer, and veg manchu balls were good. Veg curry was average . Rice was very dry and so was naan .. gulag jamun and kheeer was good .. good service .. overall an average experience

This Indian buffet is sold. They have a wide range of dishes from vegan to meats. The staff is pleasant and the place is clean. It's a drop pricey for Indian buffet which normally ranges from $10-15 on week days/weekends. This place is $18 on weekends. They also bang you $3 for a can of soda. I guess that's how they get the non-Indians because anyone who eats that awesome spicy food is definitely going through 2 cans if not more. It adds up fast.
If you're in the area then definitely check it out. Otherwise there are much cheaper spots in Teaneck and Hackensack that are just as

It was fabulous ambience, ample spacious and amazing food. Even the reception and service is so good and homely. Normally if we say indian restaurant, every food item would be greasy. But here, it is very good.
Buffet is just $14.99. It has variety of options. Chicken tandoori, Lamb curry, Goat biryani were excellent. My kid also enjoyed a lot.
If anyone looking for great food at Indian restaurant with spacious and good ambience It is Monsun.
