I had a massage with Bruce today and it was one of the best massages I ever had. I felt like he actually listened to me as far as the pain i was in and the reason for the massage. I booked a hot stone massage. But after speaking with him, he suggested something different. I listened and I am glad that I did. I definitely will be returning! I feel so much better.

This was my first but definitely not my last visit. I was gifted a spa day on Christmas Eve. One hour Body Butter massage, wax and manicure/pedicure. I was fortunate to have Bruce do my massage. He applied the right amount of pressure, and made sure I was comfortable. Very professional and nice. I was so relaxed. Laura was fast and efficient with my wax...I didn't experience a lot of pain. Tyna! Tyna! Tyna! She is THEEEE BEST nail tech! She made sure my experience was one for the books. She gave great recommendations on nail color, gave my hands and feet lots of TLC. I had a 1 hour aromatherapy massage with Bruce. I received a nice little gift as a first time customer which was unexpected and the front desk receptionist was very pleasant. Re Bruce, he had the perfect pressure, technique and energy. I didn't really smell the scent I chose until a few seconds at the end and there was a constant cd skipping sound to the right of me, also I think an eye cover for the last half would have been nice. A staple in Hyde Park for decades, I always think of Bettye O. before I think of going anywhere else. When I was younger and her spa was in Harper Court, we would always buy gift certificates for my mother, because going there to relax was her favorite thing to do.
Last year we got my mom a massage and I got a pedicure, both were pretty great. Just know that if you get a mani or pedi, they are both natural, meaning no acrylics, gels, etc.
That being said, I was in need of a wax and this spa was the first thing that came to mind. I'm happy that I didn't let Olivia's review deter

Just moved back to Chicago. I haven't been to Betty's since 2012. It's been 5 years and then service is still top notch. Laura is just as professional, quick and friendly. I had her, for the first time, wax my brows. I'm impressed. I'm glad to be back home and still receive the best service. Need a wax? Laura has got your back.

My daughter wanted to treat me to a spa experience and since I had gone to Bettye O before she took me there. My daughter and I had booked different treatments she booked the peppermint pedicure and the massage and I had booked the Parisian body polish. But my health had deteriorated since my last visit and I could not get in the tub. So my daughter and I switched services. She loved the tub and I loved the pedicure and the massage by Bruce. I have had a hot stone here before and was not impressed in the slightest because it was not a true hot stone massage but some mixed, made-up version of hot stone massage. I was taken by surprise that 1. I was not informed that the therapist was a male (not that I care) but I like to know. 2. I sat in a towel in this open room as people walked by and I was waiting for the therapist. Very uncomfortable. 3. The space reminded me of a massage school where there were not separate rooms but draped off areas which lack privacy needed during a massage. 4. What kind of therapist swipes their hands

I love the spa and I've been going for over a decade. I don't get facials as often as I should but Bettye O herself if the best! But I get my eyebrows done by Laura. She's the best brow person I've ever met and when ANYONE ELSE does my brows I can't even look at myself! I keep having this horrible nightmare where some celebrity snaps her away from Chicago and I have to start stalking her around the country.

I just had a brow wax. It was great. Laura was my technician, and she did a great job. It's been my experience that I when I go to a brow place for the first time, the technician is very nervous, but Laura knew what she was doing. I didn't have to correct her when it came to the shape or ask her to take more hair off.
I'll definitely be back.
