About Us: SHCC is a small-and-mighty, kid-centered nonprofit community center-now in its 81st year. Since 1937, SHCC has been providing support and programs for local families, especially immigrant and refugee families and low-income children and their families in the North End and surrounding areas of Burlington.
In collaboration with the Burlington School District, SHCC coordinates the afterschool enrichment programming at Lyman C. Hunt Middle School serving over 375 students per year. Various mini-courses are offered throughout the year in six-week sessions to help students improve their academic understanding, or to spark an interest in a lifelong hobby.
SHCC's food pantry (located at 66 North Avenue in Burlington) is open and available for families and individuals in need of food assistance. We have a fully-stocked selection of shelf-stable items, as well as a small section of frozen and refrigerated fruits, vegetables, and proteins. The SHCC Food Pantry is open to the entire Burlington community and may be used once a month by any individual or family.
When you invest in SHCC, you are investing in Burlington's and Vermont's future. Your donation supports education and meaningful opportunities that encourage children and their families to make healthy, positive choices. The Sara Holbrook Community Center is a federally recognized non-profit organization, with 501(c)(3) status.
