Come join us for the best Chinese restaurant and take out as voted by The Roanoker magazine and So Salem of the Roanoke Times. Salem Szechuan has been serving the Salem and Roanoke communities for almost two decades. Our delicious lunch buffet starts at 11:30 AM and runs until 2:00 PM Monday - Friday, and Sunday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.

Saturday is the only day we don't have a buffet. We carry a good selection of choices of dishes on the buffet (from a variety of beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetarian dishes), including an all fried section and dessert bar. If you have a smaller appetite we also offer several different lunch specials which include your choice of rice(fried or steamed) and egg roll.

Has become our post church lunch spot. We are such regulars, most of the staff knows our normal food and beverages. Very attentive staff.

Only place West of DC, H Street, with authentic, quality cuisine in this valley.
A must stop for anyone who needs a taste of home...

Initially went to another restaurant in this shopping center, waited at the front almost 10 mins before being greeted, then told a 30 min wait, we left. Saw Szechuan Restaurant as we exited and it was the best decision.
Excellent service, excellent food! Highly recommend!

I just ate there today and love their lunch menu. They have a lighter fare that I'm sure the doctors and nurses eat who come from Lewis Gayle across the street. I usually get the Asparagus, chicken, shrimp, scallops and prawns from the lighter menu. It's just less msgs is all- It's still very tasty and plenty of vegetables like snow peas. And over the years this has also been a great standby restaurant- still has a nice dining room.

Good food, very pleasant server (sounded like Ken Jeong). Reasonable price. Dinner for 2 was $35. Would go back.

Let's not beat around the bush: most Asian cuisine tastes pretty much the same. That's usually a good thing: sometimes you just want a safe bet after a long day.
This particular Szechuan restaurant, though, stands apart. Their sushi is among the best in Roanoke/Salem. I have yet to try a dish that wasn't bursting with flavor. I've had bad experiences with other places having greasy, bland fried foods (egg rolls, spring rolls, tempura, etc.) and I can safely say this place delivers quality flavors every time.
In addition, dishes are seasoned with more than just soy sauce and peanut oil. Even selections

Went here on a Sundat afternoon for a late lunch, we missed the buffet time so can not comment on it.
I ordered Triple Delight in a hunan sauce & it was delish & my husband ordered Peanut Chicken & his was delish too as we shared each others.
I enjoy pork fried rice on the side instead of the regular friend rice the meal comes with but all they had was a whole pint instead of a side so we shared it & we were impressed as it was not the yellow rice we get at other places but the fine grain rice w/ a lot of vegetables in it & good amount of pork.
It was not crowded as you can see from my pics

The service here was decent and the staff friendly. The food was a mixed bag.
I am not normally a big fan of egg foo yung, but my wife is. I think that this was one of the better egg foo yung dishes I have tried and the rest off the table said it was exceptionally good.
I had the three runner, which is a sample of general tso, walnut chicken, and another chicken item that was forgettable.
The general chicken was good but didn't quite hit what I am used to, it didn't have the right notes of sweet tangy and spicy; it decidedly was not spicy...
The walnut chicken was amazing. I would get that
