Mountain West Insurance Services, Inc. began as an idea in 2012. The idea was to build an insurance agency that focused on business insurance for local business owners in the Willamette Valley. Today, Mountain West Insurance Services, Inc. is a stable agency, providing insurance solutions to its customers.

Mountain West Insurance Services, Inc. is the culmination of two individuals' careers coming together to provide a better insurance agency primarily focused on insuring local and regional businesses. Shane Phelps has worked in the insurance industry since 2001, working for both large and small firms helping clients to better protect their investments and provide exceptional value when it comes to their insurance and risk management needs.

They say change is the only constant. The insurance industry has seen many changes over the last decade and one of the biggest changes has transformed how insurance agencies perform. Large publicly traded companies and several of the bigger private insurance agencies have been purchasing smaller agencies that either hadn't planned or didn't prepare for future growth.

Tourism is a growing industry and provides much-needed revenue for many cash-strapped cities, counties and states. In the Pacific Northwest, we are fortunate to live in a place where the natural beauty, excellent agriculture and rich history of the West draw tens of thousands of people every year from around the world.

Shane provides insurance and risk transfer solutions and support to businesses located in the Western States. Shane is a native Oregonian and has worked in the Insurance and Risk Management community in both Salem and Portland. Over the past fifteen years, Shane has developed a strong understanding of property and casualty risks and how best to work with insurance carriers to secure coverages for a large variety of exposures.
