New School students do work that matters. Original work. This isn't high school as you've imagined it. Yes, TNS students master an exacting college prep curriculum. But they're also out in the world, learning alongside entrepreneurs, artists, politicians, biochemists, and dozens of other passionate professionals doing important work-because the city is the most exciting classroom.

The New School - get ready to launch. Students learn best when they're deeply engaged in their work and know that something other than a grade is at stake. Conducting Biology experiments with scientists at Zoo Atlanta and the Georgia Aquarium. Performing Shakespeare for passersby on the BeltLine. Pitching diabetes interventions to a team from Emory's School of Public Health.

The New School seeks to fundamentally change the experience and meaning of high school for students, teachers, and communities. TNS students will graduate with deep and lasting knowledge of themselves and their world, gained through engaging, challenging work, both in and outside the classroom.

The New School is devoted to constant growth and improvement, of its students, its world, and itself, where committed mentor teachers guide students toward meaningful, purpose-filled lives. We are kind, generous, and welcoming and we make a sincere effort to know each other well. When conflict arises, we assume goodwill and talk honestly to find solutions.
A high school that gets teenagers out of bed every morning actually wanting to go to school?. At The New School, we're constantly working to find the spark that truly motivates each one of our students. When young people get passionate about something, it changes everything. They smile and laugh more.
If you're a master teacher, project leader, or talented administrator and interested in working in an innovative, community-engaged-learning high school, we'd love to get to know you. We're always looking for passionate individuals who want to work closely with young people.

If you're interested in participating in the innovative project-based learning that we're doing at The New School, whether as a teacher, a community partner, a mentor, a speaker, or in some role we haven't yet imagined, contact us directly.
We believe that high school students should do work that really matters - both to the students themselves and to the world. It is in wrestling with important questions that our students come to take themselves seriously as thinkers and problem solvers.

Engagement with critical problems ultimately leads to meaningful reflection and self-knowledge, as students discover not just what inspires them, but how they can connect their passions to the work they do in high school and for the rest of their lives.Meaningful, relevant work happens every day at The New School - in the classroom, as part of community-based projects, and in dozens of other ways.
In their junior year, all students take part in our year-long social entrepreneurship incubator in partnership with the Center for Civic Innovation. Students build upon the innovation, research, and project completion experience they gain in 9th and 10th grade, as they launch in-school organizations, and external, scalable businesses and nonprofits.

Report
The New School is an incredibly valuable part of the Atlanta Community. They are creating the model for what high school education should look like. They have created an incredible teaching and learning environment. I have spoken many times at TNS and am always impressed with the quality of questions the students ask, their thoughtfulness and maturity. Bravo TNS!!
