Sedona Recycles, Inc. (SRI) was founded in 1989 by Sedona residents Kate Blevins, Rayna Griffin, and Sandy Moriarty. SRI received nonprofit status in 1990. At that time, SRI was monitoring two recycling drop-off sites with the help of 24 volunteers. In 1994, SRI was awarded a $75,000 grant from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) for construction of the SRI material recovery facility in Sedona.
The facility was completed in 1995, utilizing recycled building materials and community and volunteer participation. In 1996, following completion of the new facility, the amount of recyclable materials processed increased from 1 ton to 3 tons per day! In 2000, SRI partnered with Rainbow Acres, a community for adults with developmental disabilities, to offer employment to Rainbow Acres residents.

When Sedona Recycles was founded in 1989, it was a volunteer-based organization. Our facility on Shelby Drive was built with donated materials and hours of volunteer time, and volunteers originally maintained all of our community drop-off sites. These citizens cleaned, educated, and sorted materials for the sake of our environment.
Business members and benefactors provide necessary financial support to further the mission of Sedona Recycles. Please patronize our current business members. Interested in becoming a member or business member? Benefactors have made single donations or awarded grants to Sedona Recycles of $1,000 or more.
There are nine Sedona Recycles drop-off locations in Sedona, Cornville, Jerome, and the Village of Oak Creek. Each drop-off location is available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That being said, please be mindful of recycling at night as the sounds of items dropping into recycling bins can disturb our neighbors.

Excellent system for residential and commercial recycling. Easy to use, joyful and attentive staff, and best of all: the facility is re-user/re-cycler friendly! I am thrilled to live where there is such a vibrant community and environmentally forward thinking and friendly recycling services, and I look forward to recycling days each time I collect because of Sedona Recycles.
