District Pilates
District Pilates is a boutique contemporary Pilates studio in Washington, D.C with locations in Shaw and Petworth. Both Reformer studios offer private, semi-private, and group classes using Peak Pilates Reformers and Chairs. DP also has a separate Chair studio above our Reformer space in Shaw where we use Balanced Body equipment and teach a variety of cardio, circuit and interval training options.

Classes range from beginner to advanced and can be targeted and tailored to an individual client's needs. Pilates is ideal for every body type, level of fitness, and age group. It's an exercise program that develops core strength as it dynamically works to both stretch and activate muscles, restoring the body's natural grace, power, and balance.

Tried many Pilates studios in DC and loved many but this one is by far the worst. The two instructors I had were unprofessional and didn't poo at attention to the participants. After an initial bad experience I gave it another chance with another instructor and was equally disappointed. Would highly recommend trying other studios ...

Love this studio and its instructors. I've had many classes over the last year and still feel challenged every time. Great workout I feel the next day. Very inclusive for all ages, body types and gender. Bailey, Mia, Greg and Minsu are my favorite petworth instructors. I get a different workout with each.

I took up pilates about 6 months ago, and DP was my first studio. Since then, I've taken classes elsewhere (mostly when I travel to other cities) but DP continues to be my favorite, and I feel like I'm part of a community there. I've taken classes with Bailey, Cassandra, Mia and Minsu.

Absolute favorite: Mia. She creates challenging classes (often with some chair thrown in), encourages me to push myself, and always has the best soundtrack (complete with dance moves and singing). She's also like your own personal cheerleader. Mia's made my experience with pilates (even

Great workout, great studio, great instructors! I love coming here, even when I'm super tired or stressed out. The instructors are great and really helpful, the workout is challenging and fun, and the owner does a great job of fostering a sense of community. Can't get enough of this studio.

I just celebrated my one year anniversary with DP and we are still going strong! I love the reformer studios in Petworth and Shaw and I recently went to a class at the new chair studio, which was fun and different . Bailey is a great teacher and business owner and she has made many people (including me!) happier, healthier, and stronger! I have had excellent experiences with her other instructors as well. Classes are always challenging; I am never bored. The studio spaces and lovely and clean and they reflect Bailey's personal style which is feminine, colorful, and cool. DP is just awesome

This place repeatedly wins best of DC because it is the best Pilates reformer studio anywhere. And they are the most affordable reformer studio in the area. The teachers are EXCELLENT, the classes are small and tailored to your needs, and they have tons of top of the line equipment that you don’t find elsewhere, including the chairs and the towers. I’ve been going since they opened and I’ve never been stronger and leaner.

Been doing pilates with this venue for almost 4 years. Friendly, supportive, and most importantly knowledgeable staff. Everyone has been very accommodating with my occasional injuries. The playlists are consistently lit and the instructors are kind and relatable.

I've been doing Pilates on and off for over ten years and Bailey is one of the best instructors I've ever had. She customizes the class to who is in it, challenges you and is constantly checking in with how you are doing. She always offers modifications and makes the class entertaining and enjoyable. The vibe of the studio is clean and welcoming. I always get a full body workout and am amazed at the crazy sh*t she is able to come up with!

This studio is within walking distance from my house and has been a great addition to the Petworth neighborhood. I had never done reformer class before, but decided to buy the intro of two classes for $40 and really enjoyed both of them. Started with a beginner class which I'd recommend for anyone who hasn't used a machine before, and went to intermediate for my second class. Both were challenging yet rewarding, and I can't wait to go back! The studio is modern and clean with about 5-6 reformers. I would come at least ~5 mins before class so you can get settled and have your machine

I've never been a big strength person - and I've always hated working my core. After an injury and a recommendation to try out pilates for hip stabilization, I went on a studio spree trying out most of the pilates studios in the district area with ClassPass. But once I found District and Bailey, I never had the desire to try any other studio.

I've loved all of my classes at District, but Bailey, the owner, is a stand out teacher. She has been amazing at helping to modify activities around my injury - often knowing before I do what will or won't bother my injury. She

I love this studio! The classes are always challenging and never repetitive or boring. The instructors truly care and are passionate and knowledgeable about Pilates. They remember your name, your preferences on weight, regularly ask what you want to work on and what you did in the last class, and follow up on the idiosyncratic things you raised in the last class. (Shout out to Bailey for asking me how was the Royal Wedding. Lollll.) They are very concerned about injuries and give all sorts of modifications if your back, hips, wrists, etc. are bothering you. I've become so much stronger over

Based on one visit. Would like to go back and try a different teacher. The instructor was of the "gym pilates" variety, rather than "boutique." Personable and friendly but did not give accommodations, ask about injuries, carefully talk through the form. Great studio, though, hope to find a better match for my needs, so will def go again.

"OMG YAY!" Those are the words I uttered out loud when I found out District Pilates was opening up a studio in Petworth near where I live. It's the best ever! I have been going to District Pilates for about three years, sometimes as a Class Pass customer and other times as a "regular" customer, and I have had nothing but top-notch experiences over those three years.

The instructors are all really good, so I recommend trying out a few of them to figure out who you jibe with the best. Bailey, the studio owner, is one of the best--her classes tend to have a pretty quick

LOVE this studio! Bonus points for opening up a studio in Petworth!!! This studio has a great look and vibe. It's clean but has a great asthetic. Not only are you challenged by the reformer, but the instructors incorporate other elements into the workout (chair, rings, weights, ball, etc) so each class is different and you don't get bored. I'm a huge fan of Bailey's and Gregg's classes, but honestly the other instructors are also of consistent high quality. They provide expert individual attention to your form and ensure that class members' special needs are addressed

This is the BEST pilates studio in all of DC (and trust me I have tried them all!). I love that there are now two locations for District Pilates, allowing me to get my fix no matter the time or place.

The decor and vibe of this studio is awesome and the reformers are great and super welcoming. I transitioned from a newbie pilates student to someone who tries to go once a week because of DP. Especially at this studio, I always have an awesome experience no matter the instructor.

Thanks for kicking my butt DP! I will be back soon.

I live in Columbia Heights and it's SO nice to see a new studio in the area. I had never tried pilates but it was such a welcoming environment and only a few students in each class so you get hands on attention and can get to know the instructor. I had Sarah for a beginner class and she walked me through every step. Bailey the owner is super friendly so if you have any questions about pilates, she will make you feel at ease. I'll definitely return soon!!!!

I've been going to District Pilates for a couple years now since Bailey opened her original studio in Shaw. I typically take classes with Bailey & Greg, but honestly, all the instructors Bailey brings on are friendly, knowledgeable, committed and just make class a lot of fun. I now split up my visits between Shaw and the new studio in Petworth. The Petworth studio is conveniently located just a block or so from the metro and street parking is widely available just around the corner. The Petworth studio has a gorgeous patio out front and is very sleek with black & silver accents inside

My husband and I have been going to District Pilates for about 2 years now - we highly recommend it, totally our favorite! Not only are the instructors great, but the studios are cute + the music is always fun. There is a wide variety of equipment to use and there are a bunch of class times to choose from. Most of all, we love supporting this local business and watching them grow! Bailey's plank series is not to be missed - you will definitely be feeling it the next day = )

I've been going to District Pilates in Shaw for about 2 years now and have always loved it. Now that it's opened a second location less than a 5 minute walk from my house, I'm overjoyed!

I like the different level classes offered and the fact that the instructors really help you personalize your workout by asking what people want to work each day, or if there are particular exercises anyone would like to do, plus always offering modifications. Each instructor has their own unique style too which is fun when you want to mix things up- all while always getting a great workout.

I'm so excited that Petworth finally has a Pilates studio!!! This is the best news I've heard in some time. Went to Bailey's class today and it was awesome as expected based on the reviews for her studio in Shaw (5 stars, highest rated Pilates studio in DC). The space is great, location is perfect, and schedule is exactly what I need (7am any day of the week). Game-changer!

I came to District Pilates for both mat and reformer classes, and had Laura as an instructor, who was great!
She was very knowledgeable and helpful to our class. It seemed like many of us had athletic backgrounds, but the exercises (especially the reformer ones) were challenging, and I definitely got a good workout in. I would definitely recommend that others take classes at this location!
