Between 1990 and 2000, Americans wasted a total of 7.1 million tons of cans, enough to manufacture 316,000 Boeing 737 airplanes or enough to reproduce the world's entire commercial airfleet 25 times. Since the first Earth Day in 1970, Americans have thrown away 910 billion cans worth over $25 billion in current dollars.
Recycling scrap metal can be great for your business. Scrap metal is unwanted metal parts and pieces which are traded and sold as a commodity as well as used to practical effect. Trading in scrap metal prevents the need for further manufacturing by reducing the overall demand, saves your business money, and saves the environment.

Our #1 goal is to provide assurance to our customers that materials they sell to Mankato Iron & Metal are handled in a responsible way fully compliant with all environmental regulations. Generators of metal scrap can be held liable for downstream contamination from their scrap.
For example, if we received material from a manufacturer that included oil in leaky containers causing street spills during transport, or if the oil found its way into waterways, environmental regulators could penalize both the scrap processor and the scrap generator.Under federal and state environmental laws the liability is joint and several.

We control what comes into our facilities through implementation of an Inbound Materials Source Control Program. Elements of this program include communicating by various media what we can and cannot accept to our suppliers, inspecting materials as they arrive, and responding to the discovery of unauthorized materials.
We will continue pursuing facility-level goals established in conjunction with corporate environmental standards and programs. We will continue to ensure compliance through regular compliance audits and other assurance programs. We will work with our new operations to learn where opportunities for improvement exist and strengthen management systems to ensure alignment with corporate standards.
Scrap metal products like wire and cable, aluminum conduit, cable tray, copper pipe, and even switchgear are normal by-products of electrical contracting jobs. But many contractors don't know how recycling these materials can add to the profitability of their jobs. The way to get top dollar for your scrap is knowing the best way to to collect and sort the material.

I drove up to the window and they said they'd take my clothes dryer for nothing. I appreciate that. The only other place I've found charges money. The guy at the office was helpful. I unloaded it in the area where I was asked. Then my experience turned bad pretty quick. I guess I unloaded it about 15 feet south of where they wanted it, because the guy in the yard stopped me, yelled, cussed me out, and threatened to throw HIS stuff in MY driveway. He actually asked me where I live. If I were less laid-back, I might take that as a threat. I told him I was sorry, which I sincerely am. I hope I didn

Been there many times and staff is rude and unfriendly. They tell you one thing, then next time they come they yell at you for doing what they told you to do next time. Numbers on the scale minus bin weight times price/pound never actually add up. I do the math every time, and I’m always left short changed. Not worth the hassle and rudeness for them to line their pockets.

NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!!! Gentleman told me to put all my aluminium in the conveyor then watched me empty my entire truck. Ron came out telling me he had never met someone so stupid in his life for putting the aluminium where i was told. Then continued to call me dumb and other names. He then made me remove all the aluminium from the conveyor while yelling at me and hitting the machine while threatening me. I tried to file a complaint but the white hairded gentleman in the office refused. When I asked him to look at the video of the incident he refused and said that he doesnt have to do anything

Went here to drop off cans my son crushed. Got there at 4:25. Tried telling me they wouldn't take all of them . Went into the office and they said they would take them all. Guy came out from the office and said we close at 4:30 . Completely rude about it tried to to get me to walk to a sign with the closing time posted on it. I didn't follow him he went off said a few more tjithi in a rude manner, then proceeded to open a door where my wife was and hut her in the head. After we get to the office, the lady in the office was down right rude to us. GREAT WAY TO TREAT YOUR FIRST TIME CUSTOMERS!
