Mary High School is sponsored by the Marianist Province of the United States of America. This province is a network consisting of three universities, 19 schools, six parishes, and. Recognized statewide as leading the way in science and technology, STVM is designated as a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) school by the Ohio Department of Education.
I chose STVM because of the environment. Everyone at STVM has been welcoming to me and has made me feel like I was a part of a family. The House System has helped to give me a better connection with my fellow students, regardless of what grade they are in. I'm appreciative of the many opportunities at STVM to express my Catholicity.

About STVM The first Catholic high school founded in Summit County, STVM is a Marianist school with a long tradition of excellence and a focus on innovation. The merging of Akron's first two Catholic schools, St. Vincent and St. Mary, is portrayed in the official crest of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.
In 1887, Rev. Dr. Thomas F. Mahar, the Pastor of St. Vincent Church, was commissioned by Bishop Gilmore of the Cleveland Diocese to establish a Mission in south Akron to be known as St. Mary Church. The parish was formally established in 1896 and in the fall of 1897, the first Catholic high school opened its doors to students.
Mary High School is a four-year, co-educational, college preparatory Marianist-sponsored Catholic high school. We have been an integral part of the Akron community for more than 100 years, providing quality education rooted in the Catholic faith. Over 19,000 alumni of St. Mary, St. Vincent and St. Vincent-St.
In the fall of 2020, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School officially launched their "House System, " a strategic plan created to enhance the overall student experience. The House System allows for students to individually develop in their faith, leadership, community and service.
It establishes new opportunities for the growth and formation of relationships with peers across all grade levels, which organically increases a student's sense of identity and belonging.This initiative is in alignment with STVM's mission statement as well as the Marianist charism that provides the foundation for the school's beliefs and daily practices.
