Our son told us we had to try a Hawaiian Plate lunch place before we left and Marks is No 1 on Kauai. Lady taking our order told us not to swim after eating because we would be in a food coma...ding ding ding. wow! We had Katsu Chicken and Korean Chicken specials. They came with rice, ramen like noodles and a Mac salad. One plate can easily feed two for lunch. Just go back later that week and get a second choice. It's local, it's good and it's worth trying when you are on the south side of the Island.

Marks place is a fine place to taste some of the local fare. Takeout only - didn't have a wait to order (maybe a minute). They told me it would take 20 but only took about 7 minutes.
We ordered a mini plate of the loco moco and the beef stew. The beef stew was well made, the meat was tender and overall was flavorful. We would order again. Ironically this is not at all a Hawaiian dish but it is solid nonetheless.
The loco moco was okay. The patty was a touch dry and the gravy could have more seasoning, I'd probably not order this again as I had better on the island (notably Kountry

Everything is good. Marks special combo is what I got and my girl got the Korean chicken and teriyaki beef combo. Both were wonderful! The yelp reviews are not fake. The carrot cake, if they have it, was almost enough to make me cry, it was soooooo good. It's only take out so you'll need to find a place to eat. Really one of the best on Kauai.

Got Marks Mix plate so we could try everything. Portion was large enough to share. Chicken Katsu was a little dry, teriyaki beef was ok but the star of the plate was the Beef stew. Tender pieces of meat, potatoes and carrots in a tomato gravy was one of the best stews I have tasted. Wanted more ...Comfort food if you like rice. It totally hit the spot. Highly recommend it and would just get the beef stew plate all by itself next time. Tried the mini loco moco too that was very tasty.

Service is not super friendly, and there are no places to sit, but the food portions are large, and the food was delicious. We ordered the Mark's plate which had a little bit of everything, and the portions were so big, and it was definitely enough for 2 people. The chicken katsu wasn't salted, (if it was it would've been spectacular) but it was still good. The korean beef was char-grilled so the smoky flavor was incredibly delicious. An expected part of the dish that I am still dreaming about the beef stew. It was so tender, delicious, flavorful, and "clean" tasting. It

Meh. Not a place I would recommend going out of the way for. I got the 2 plate combo to share, which came with rice, Mac salad, teriyaki beef, chicken Katsu & noodles.
Mac salad- tasted like the Costco pre made Mac salad
Teriyaki Beef - salty and overcooked - not recommended
Chicken Katsu- crispy and solid but nothing special
Noodles- no taste, not sure why it's part of the plate , doesn't add much value
They currently only allow take out. Be sure to check if they give you utensils because they didn't include any in our bag.
Ample amount of parking.

An off the beaten track spot mainly for locals. We were almost sketched out by the location but I had heard this place was legit. Parking lot is very small here.
They had a tent set up outside due to covid and you could not go inside. They had a white board with the daily specials and a counter set up to pay. We got the sautéed ono fish special with rice, salad, and noodles. We didnt wait too long for the food to come out and we ate it in our car. The sauce used on the fish was delicious, ono nice and meaty and cooked nicely. Salad and rice were fresh.

This place a must-try for Hawaiian food! It's near the airport, so it's super convenient if you've just landed in Kauai. The portions are huge and the food is super dense, so it's the perfect place to try if you're hungry. They have their regular dishes and also a specials menu that changes everyday. I tried the black bean tostada salad (a daily special), which was huge! It filled me so much even though it was a salad - it had romaine lettuce, black bean burger, avocado, salsa, and corn in a crunchy shell. It was filling and tasted so fresh!

Don't let this discourage you, but Mark's is hard to find. Once again, my husband was yelling at me to learn how to read a map! Mark's is tucked off a side road in an industrial park. It is takeout only and you order outside under a canopy. They have several picnic tables but they are closed.
The menu is very heavy on meat but there are a couple of vegetarian options. We took the easy route and ordered "Mark's Famous Mixed plate" to split. It was a good thing we split, the two of us couldn't finish it.

Great place for local hawaiian food! This was our first stop after arriving in kauai. Unfortunately my body wasn't able to handle too much food from being car sick on the way to the airport and from the plane. My stomach was able to handle those delicious fries. My husband got the chicken katsu plate which he enjoyed and was so filling he ended up eating half for lunch and half for dinner later that night. Service was super nice and friendly, wish I made another trip before leaving!

Definitely worth the stop! "To Go" is the only option now even though there are outdoor picnic tables. We ordered the Mixed Plate to split between 2 of us and it was still more than we could finish. Beef stew, Katsu (fried) chicken and Teriyaki beef. It came with a side of rice (brown or white) and a side salad of either Macaroni or a green salad. Everything was amazing. The beef was so tender and the stew veggies were large and perfectly cooked. The chicken was moist and delicious. The teriyaki beef was perfectly seasoned. We spent about $22 with 2 bottles of soda. Super nice people! Make the

Such delicious food! My family of 4 got two of the mixed plates due to reading reviews as well as spam masubi. This was more than enough food for all of us! The only downside is that they aren’t allowing people to eat at the picnic tables outside right now, but that’s absolutely understandable. Definitely recommend going here for authentic Hawaiian food.

LIVES UP TO THE HYPE!
This was a place I was looking forward to checking out and it lived up to the high reviews it received on Yelp. I ordered the loco moco and their ube cheesecake. Their loco moco was one of the best I've ever had. The hamburger meat was amazing and their Mac salad was perfect. But, the star of the show was their ube cheesecake. I think they have a thing called Ube Wednesdays where they sell their ube flavored baked goods, so don't be surprised if this isn't offered on a different day besides Wednesday. This cheesecake was the BEST ube cheesecake I've ever

On our 3rd trip to Kauai, we finally got to try Mark's Place... It was closed the times we checked during our previous trips in Summer of 2019 (Closed on Saturdays and Sundays) and Thanksgiving 2020 (we were too late, they close at 730pm). This time we were not gonna be denied. Third time's the charm for us.
We ordered for pick-up. We were staying nearby so we phoned in an order for a Korean chicken plate ($14.39) and a salmon poke inari bomb plate ($15.99). The Korean chicken was my order. It was good, it was plenty of chicken that was served on a bed of fried saimin with a scoop of

The Mark’s Famous Mixed Plate was delicious! Awesome local eats. Chicken katsu was perfectly crispy, teriyaki beef was tender sweet, and the beef stew was cooked perfectly. Everything sounded good and it was hard to decide, but the staff was helpful with their recommendations. Strawberry butter mochi was yummy also.

By far the best lunch plate I had on my trip to Kauai!
The wide variety of options was impressive. I got the Katsu chicken, Teriyaki beef, and Beef Stew with veggies. It was all spectacular, with tons of flavor and homemade taste.
The place is pretty small and as of June 2021 they were only doing takeout for COVID, but it's fine as the location is in an industrial park so we would have done takeout and gone to the park or beach anyways.

All those yelpers can't be wrong! Was hungry after a long day and decided to check it out. It's located in an industrial area close to Costco. Small lot in the back. Due to the pandemic, its grab and go. So we had the mini teri chicken bento and the special of imitation crab panko stuffed ahi. The chicken was soft and had several pieces and the stuffed ahi was huge! Good thing we shared. The fish was really fresh and tasty. Portions are big so be prepared to share.
Also grabbed a bag of ulu chips which by the way make great omiyage. For what you get, you can beat the price of the food

Oh my goodness this food was insanely delicious! Serioulsy would have never known about this unless a friend told me and because of that I'm telling you! Located near a residential/ industry area it is off the main drag and that's probably a good thing because this place would be more busy than it was when we were there.
This is definitely a place where the locals go and where the in crowd goes. Don't miss this!everything is so good
