The District has authority by state statute for management of water resources within San Benito County, and is now the Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) for the county. The District is governed by an elected five member Board of Directors, and administered by the District Manager/Engineer.

Our five member Board of Directors are elected by the residents of San Benito County. Our Board meets on the last Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. (unless otherwise specified) at the District office Board Room. Director Tobias was raised in San Benito County and graduated from Oregon State University.
Annual updates are also required. A multi-departmental system or a system that contains information collected about the public; and. Parcels of land that have a blind flange are eligible to receive "blue valve" water. Landowners can review their property tax bill. Contract customers purchase water on an annual basis.
The District always actively pursues ways to increase the water supply available to our community. The development of a reclaimed water program is part of the Hollister Urban Area Master Plan. The District successfully made an application for grant funds and was awarded $1.3 million to implement a recycled water program.
The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) is State law requiring that groundwater basins are made sustainable. This essentially means maintaining balanced levels of pumping and recharge, and assuring reliable water quality. Everyone who uses groundwater should recognize the vast importance of basin sustainability for today, and for our children, their children, and the generations beyond.
