I take my kid here 4 days a week. Coach Jerry is a badass and takes care of all the kids attending his class. He is always very welcoming with new students/parents and teaches them great content. My kid has only been attending for about a month and a half and has gotten better not only at BJJ, but in behavior and character as well. Highly recommend.

This review is pre pandemic, everyone is friendly courteous and nice. People remember your names and the atmosphere is family orientated.
Why am i reviewing so late is because i dont want to see this gym close and hope everyone gets back to training after this is done.

My fiancé was training Jiu Jitsu in San Jose and met a few of the guys from Gilroy during an open mat. He enjoyed training with them so much he started driving to Gilroy 4+ days a week so we decided to move to Gilroy so he could be closer and train more. Gilroy BJJ welcomed us with open arms and made us apart of the family instantly. High level, educated coaches/team that supports each other on and off the mats. If your looking to compete, this team will support you every step of the way.

It’s not bad. It’s just they teach the same moves over and over. But overall the coaches are really nice and it’s affordable.

I've had my son in the kids class here for about three months and I can't say enough about the coaches. They are always so helpful and from the very beginning have helped him to feel comfortable. He was very shy in the beginning and felt it was a little difficult to pick up some of the technique. But they break the kids into smaller groups to give them more attention and correct them on posture and technique. When the kids are able to spar they coach them on how to block or reverse certain moves. He has learned so much and is excited to go to every class. Couldn't have asked for

Gilroy BJJ is truly more than just a place to work out. The very diverse group of martial artists provides somewhat of a family to anyone that is looking to dive into Jiu Jitsu. Regardless if you are male or female or if you are looking for a gym for your kids - this is the place to be.
It is very uncomplicated get started here. The group is very welcoming, supportive and what you can call a "family environment".
There is a surprising number of accomplished competitors and even world champions. If you are looking to compete, they have the knowledge and coaching that you would need to

I competed against Carlos a few years back at the Gracie open. Found him to be a very gracious and unassuming person. His humble character on the mat , I'm sure , will be conveyed in his teaching style. Couple that with the fact that Gilroy has one of the best wrestling programs in the state and you've got a pretty solid place to train. BJJ enthusiasts are lucky to have this place right in your own backyard.

Great place to train. Everyone here has their regular lives yet still dedicates on average 10-15 hours per week in training both on the mat and on their own. Majority of the folks that train here, compete regularly and medal just as often,

I'd really give that honor to the instructors; few will push you as hard as Carlos, mentally and physically he's been a huge help in helping me prep for competition. If competition is your aim, he's the man pre-comp diet and exercise routines as well as understanding your game plan from stepping on the mat, to fight, down to finishing every
