Services
Larry Bishop grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1965. He attended Northeastern State College and Central State University in Edmond. After graduating from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, he worked as manager for Mills Corporation in McAlester, then in Oklahoma City where he met and married Carol in 1979.

Staff members of Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Robert Glanville is a professional licensed embalmer in the State of Oklahoma and formerly in California.

The following is a list of choices which represent the cost of our services. They may or may not include the casket or container required for visitation or viewing, burial, entombment or cremation. Cremation is an irreversible process. We suggest a positive identification of the deceased before cremation.

Our family has used Bishop Funeral Service for every funeral and memorial service since 1993, most recently this past November. I highly recommend them above any other service in Mcalester.
Through the years, the staff has been extremely kind, considerate and helpful!! The Harkins family and all the staff went above and beyond with my husband’s recent service. Any question was answered promptly and any concern was addressed in a timely manner.
The suggestions made enhanced his service and care was given to keep costs very reasonable. I am continually amazed at how each individual looks so alive

Every single person we came in contact with went above and beyond to make this difficult time in our lives as easy as possible from picking up our mother to follow up weeks after to offer assistance with anything we needed. All the staff we talked with were very kind and compassionate and did a great job to make all the arrangements to our satisfaction. They were helpful with making the decision process easier and listened to what was important to us to honor our dad in this process. The service we had was above our expectations and we were very pleased with everything they did and how it turned out. We have used them in the past with just as excellent service and I recommend Bishops for families in that time of need.

So pleased with Bishops. My mom passed away on April 28th of 2021. It’s almost been 2 months and they’re still contacting me from time to time to see how myself and my family are doing. Mom looked so pretty for her journey home. She looked as though she was ready for church and was just taking a nap. That was something I worried about was her looking peaceful. They did an amazing job on that. The family visitation and the funeral went so well too. The video they did was so touching as well. I don’t know how they did it.
