Chaney's Funeral Home is one of the oldest funeral establishments in Oklahoma dating back to 1889. The firm was founded in 1889 and originally served Oklahoma territory as a trading post in Krebs. In 1909 the business was moved to Main and Cherokee in South McAlester. The Chaney family made it their mission to offer caring and personal service to all they served.
We understand that making the many decisions which come at a time of loss can be difficult. We offer our support by providing you with two options as you consider making immediate arrangements. Staff members of Chaney - Harkins Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Ruth Harkins has been a member of the McAlester Community since 2000.
Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home provides facilities for viewing, chapel service, a family gathering room, lounge, preparation and refrigeration facilities. Our chapel is tastefully decorated and can accomodate recorded or live music. The chapel will seat 190 people including a private family seating area.

My Mother in Law recently passed away. Ruth went way out of her way to accomodate my wife and family at this great time of need. The entire staff was absolutely wonderful. I'm sure we wouldn't find this great service anywhere in California. Thanks again for making a bad time into such a wonderful event

My mother passed away 6 years ago and that was my first experience with Chaney Harkins Funeral Home and Ruth Harkins. She worked with us in every way to make my mothers service exactly what she would have wanted. Ruth's kindness and caring attitude made the tragedy of losing my beloved mother so much easier to deal with. My family used Chaney Harkins for both our parents. Our father almost five years ago and our mother less than two months ago. I was very impressed by Ruth and her knowledge and professionalism. She showed our family great respect and was very helpful with all the business that needed to be taken care of.
