We take extra care cleaning the pockets around your teeth to prevent or treat gum disease. Regular comprehensive dental exams are critical to maintaining your oral and overall health. Carter and Hoff, both graduates of UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, believe it's about how we treat people beyond there treatments.
Yes, healthy teeth and happy smiles are wonderful, but we believe in doing more. Knowing each patient's name when they walk in, caring for generations of the same family, and having conversations about things other than teeth are a few of the things that set us apart. If it's your first time visiting us, it's important that we take the time to get to know you and your teeth.

Services
Did you know that nearly 65% of dental problems can be easily diagnosed or prevented? That's why it's important to keep up with regular examination of your teeth and gums. We provide evaluations, cleanings, preventative measures like mouthguards, and if an issue is found, treatments such as fillings or crowns.
What is it they say about first impressions? That they help determine the right treatment plan? Well, that's what we say at least! Your first visit to our office is a crucial time for assessing your current oral health situation, addressing any immediate concerns, and providing us with a baseline for future checkups.
This place is wonderful. Everyone is friendly and professional, nobody has ever been cold or acted like they have better places to be and better things to do. They show me my x-rays and explain things, which no other dentist I've been to has ever done. They laugh and joke, it's always a friendly atmosphere, instead of being tense and impersonal.

This is the first dentist I went to after not having dental insurance for over a decade. I had so many issues that they helped me through, including a LOT of cavities, but Dr. Carter and her staff have never been anything but helpful, friendly, and don't mind my weird questions about toothpaste and flossing. :D Recently I had to have two root canals done, one got pushed back 2-3 months (first insurance, then an endodontist scheduling issue). They were able to call after antibiotics failed to clear out the pain (after the third course of them) and get me in same day to get that second root canal

I am not the best dental patient. I don't numb easily so every procedure is taxing and gives me high anxiety. Dr Carter ALWAYS takes care of me. She understands my nerves and does anything she can to put me at ease. I see Katie McCoy for my cleanings and LOVE her. Won't schedule with anybody else. Their office staff is very nice and professional. Appointments have always been on time. If you are looking for a dental practice in Wilmington, this is the one for you!

I have been going to Dr. Hoff for a couple weeks now and I want to give her and her staff (in particular Rhonda and Linda, although everyone has been pleasant) a huge shout out. I have severe fear of the dentist, and I haven't been to get a cleaning or have work done for 10+ years. Needless to say, I've had plenty that needs to get done! Dr. Hoff has been understanding, compassionate, genuine and gentle. She talks through everything and makes sure you understand what's going to happen exactly when it's going to happen. She is gentle with the Novacaine and makes sure that if you feel any pain she

Had an appointment today a MONDAY at 4pm. Called at 8:24am to reschedule due to the fact that my work required me to stay over and work. Single mother of two teenage girls, two weeks before Christmas, I needed the money and work on my good side. I was told I would be charged $35 for rescheduling. I did not give 24 hours notice. I gave 8 hours notice on a Monday. Guess my need to keep my job and the OT pay for supporting my children doesn’t mean as much as throwing $35 into the pocket of a dentist already making PLENTY of money!

Very friendly and accommodating staff. They were able to replace my original composite on one of my front teeth, and then freshen up the composite next to it so that they both matched. Carter and Hoff were able to see me as a "new patient", and completed the procedure all within a few hours . They did a fantastic job, and made everything (including paying) a wonderful experience. Thank you!

Hands down, my favorite dentist. They are so personal in getting to know you as a patient and genuinely caring, outside of being professional and prompt. I've never had extended wait periods, or any issues with miscommunication. There is no extended wait to schedule appointments if your need is urgent. I have recommended this dentist office to others, and will continue to. I'm not excited about having to find a new dentist when I no longer live in Wilmington as they have exceeded my expectations

I have been going here for a couple years now and I love it! I just recently had to have cavities filled and Dr. Hoff is so kind and accommodating. She and a few employees stayed until almost 6:00 so I could get all my fillings at once, and did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable in the process. I highly recommend Dr. Hoff!
