One of my friends took me to for my birthday. I really did not know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised!

We got seated fairly quickly even though the place was packed. Waitress was a gem, very sweet and attentive.
Food was delicious, from appetizers to dessert, which they offered for free for my birthday!

The owners came around to check on the customers and make sure everyone was satisfied with their experience.

Very nice atmosphere, very good food, and for what I heard great cocktails!

I will definitely make this place one of my Halsted Street Deli!

My friend and I stopped to dine in their restaurant and had an excellent meal. Unexpected from a fast food restaurant but they came more than that. Honestly, going on a fast-food chain was to fill my hunger because I did not have an afternoon lunch. But, after tasting their famous bacon king, it changes my aspect about burger king.
Coming back to grab some breakfast is not a waste of time. Halsted Street Deli has a breakfast menu that will keep you going all day. Their cook does an astonishing job of drawing anything on the menu and putting it on your plate.
Inside at the restaurant is pretty

Relatively cheap for a downtown lunch spot. Ordering is always fast and pickup through Ritual is a breeze. Food is good tasting and fresh! I'll definitely add this place to my lunch rotation.

This place is right by my university so I decided to grab a sandwich due to the convenience of being a block away. I was looking for the vegetarian options (2 options) I decided to go with #6 (sour dough bread, lettuce, cheese, mayo, cucumbers & a few more veggies) I told the server that I want the sandwich to be made like a panini, instead he just warmed up the sandwich until the bread was lightly toasted and warm. The sandwich tasted awful: warm bread, warm avocados, warm lettuce, warm cucumbers. It did not taste good at all. This place may not be ideal for vegetarians, a lot of people were

Workers are friendly. Food tastes good enough but the portions are just small. The Big Tony promises huge layers of meat and my total meat was not even a half inch thick. Ill still get lunch here occasionally because of the location but I'd rather go elsewhere for a big sandwhich (Harry's or Pot bellys)

Used to be much better. I occasionally went here for lunch, but they really started skimping on the meat on their sandwiches, especially the big tony. I used to go here for a bagel and coffee each morning, but the service has become painfully slow, so I've now stopped going here altogether. Its not horrible, so I'll refrain from giving 1 star, there are just much better options in the surrounding area

This location sucks and I won't be patronizing this place anymore. TWICE ordered 2 BLT and the first excuse was that they would have to cook them and it would take 10-15 min. Who has time for this when you're on a 30 min lunch. The second on time I called in advanced 15 early. Did ordered the same two sandwiches and was they'd be ready when I got there. Got there shortly after 15 and wired in line for 10 min only for the cashier to tell me that the bacon is frozen and they haven't cooked any yet. No apology but a smirk. Well, negative reviews goes around 100 times more quickly

Ordered catering for a large meeting. For breakfast, it showed up 40 minutes early so the coffee was cold by the time it was needed. The breakfast was supposed to be assorted bagels with jam / cream cheese and pastries, but instead was entirely muffins and donuts/pastries (no bagels, no jam, no cream cheese), so the health conscious people didn't eat anything.

For lunch they tried to over-charge us more than listed on their menu (they said their menu was incorrect) and forgot the drinks that were supposed to be included with the lunch, and said they would reimburse us $0.50 / drink, meanwhile

Been here twice, won't bother again. The first go they made my over priced sandwich to order as I asked and I enjoyed it despite the price. Today, I ordered a Triple Decker on rye with no tomato and hot giardiniera. The sandwich I received was a Triple Deck on pumpernickel with tomato and no giardiniera. And it was about 2:15, it wasn't busy and there were no customers behind me.

Bockwinkle's is the same distance, has the same meat, a larger bread variety and will actually make you what you ask for while charging you much less.

With Bockwinkle's, Jimmy Johns, and Snarfs

I used to go to this place every once and a while a few years ago. Back then, I would've given this place a solid 3 stars; decent sandwiches with a considerable amount of meat.

Not even close anymore.

First, they raised their prices of each sandwich at least $1, maybe even more. Second, the size of the sandwich itself, end to end, is probably 2/3 the size that it used to be. Third, and worst of all, they put MAYBE 1/5 of the meat that they used to put on their sandwiches. I literally got ONE slice of roast beef on my sandwich which they charge approximately $8 for.

To say the least, avoid

Used to love this place.. Used to be a great value for the half soup/half sandwich combo meal.

New owners jacked the price up and lowered the amount of meat on sandwiches. Very chincy..

There used to be a line out the door at this place during lunchtime, now there is no line at lunchtime.

Owners wake up! I will not be going back..

Not the biggest size, best tasting, best value or most interesting sandwich you're going to find in the loop, just "meh". So since I really don't have any reason to go back to hasted street deli let me offer some alternate suggestions that all taste AMAZING and offer something unique (no particular order)...

Perry's Deli (huge/amazing), Hannah's Bretzle (very unique/high end), Panozzos Italian Market (little further south but probably the highest quality ingredients), Cafecito (hot pressed sandwiches, namely the cuban), Fontanos (old school Italian deli by DePaul

I got the #4 Big Tony, which promises "Huge layers of genoa salami, imported ham, sweet capicola and provolone cheese, topped with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo and finished with a homemade Italian vinaigrette and Italian seasoning. Served on a fresh baked Italian roll."

Huge layers of sandwich filling? I think not. But it was still pretty tasty, especially the salami and ham.

If it was a little closer to my work Halsted Street Deli would be in my regular lunchtime rotation...oh well.

Where's the fire?

I've been here a few times and while the food is solid, I really hate the feeling of being pushed out the door. On my most recent visit, I whipped out my debit card, forgetting they are cash only, and they guy was so impatient that he kept saying "just give me $6" (or forget about the change) while I went through my purse. I'm all for efficiency, but give me a damn second or start taking debit cards.

As always my sandwich was good, I usually go with the #4 tuna sandwich. My office building recently had a little presentation and had HSD cater the food

I will say that this place is always good, even if I'm usually in the mood for something else. I don't visit terribly often, but I am never disappointed.

Great deals for lunch, basically, with tasty sandwiches, and above average soups. about $6 for a soup + 1/2 sandwich, chips, and drink - as others have noted. Grab the triple decker for a little extra, and be uncomfortably full. Also, Tuesday/Thursday is meatball sub day - a nice roll with three huge (and good) meatballs, sauce, cheese, peppers, plus drink and chips, again for a hair over $6. Great stuff.

Also, go to admire the owner

Great little spot in the CBOE. As others have mentioned, its a tight little space, so it might be better for a grab & go, but after the 12-1 rush, you can usually find a seat.

The 1/2 sandwich & soup combo for $6 and change is a great deal. The quality of the meats, bread, and soup put this a notch above most of the chain sandwich places in the loop.

A semi-hidden gem for sure. Thanks for the rec. yelpers!

This is a "pickup & go" restaraunt mostly frequented by traders. The lunch menu is decent, but what really makes this place shine is breakfast. I could eat their breakfast burritto three times a day if they offered it.

The staff is also friendly and they seem to know the orders by heart of people who have been there 3 or 4 times.

This place is located in the Chicago Stock Exchange / Chicago Board of Options Exchange building, it's the reddish one across the street from the Chicago Board of Trade on the Van Buren side.

This is another one of those places I recommend for lunch if you work in the area. Parking around here is non-existent and you really wouldnt want to drive down just to eat here.

Their most popular thing is selling "Soup and Half-Sandwich" for $5.00. They change their soups daily, my favorite is the Lobster Bisque. They have ten different sandwiches to choose from, one of them is Italian
