Susan Baird Kanaan, who makes her living as a free-lance writer, moved to Ukiah in late 2001 and was glad to find YoMo soon thereafter. She believes that health involves a combination of body, mind, and spirit, and that a strong community nurtures the health of all its citizens. She joined the Board around 2005 because she sees Yoga Mendocino as a place that nurtures health in all these dimensions and she wanted to be part of that endeavor.
Please note that these yoga teachers are NOT being compensated for their online classes by YoMo, so they depend on your donation contributions. Tuesday afternoons 4:30-5:30pm ~ A simple class of basic poses to help us to stretch, relax, and unwind. Mostly floor based. Wednesday mornings 9:30-10:30am ~ A morning yoga session to gain and maintain mobility and flexibility, including some standing, balance, and strengthening poses.
Historically, Yoga Mendocino hosted weekly Wednesday evening meditation sessions. A couple of these meditation groups are continuing to meet virtually on on the 1st and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 7-8:30pm. These evenings generally start with a half-hour of meditation followed by dharma reflections and opportunities for discussion.
Maggie Norton (Co-founder Yoga Mendocino) has studied yoga and meditation in the British Isles, India and the U.S. and has taught yoga since 1983. She offers classes in active and therapeutic yoga, as well as specialized courses and workshops in back care, stress reduction, balance, and deep relaxation.
A little yoga can go a long way. Yoga makes a difference to how we feel mentally and physically, which is why more than 36 million people practice yoga in the USA today. Yoga is a system of poses, movements and specific breathing techniques that benefit the whole body so that your posture, strength, balance, flexibility and even self-confidence improve.
