I'll take crazy overpriced sandwiches for $600 Alex.

The Jeopardy answer is $33.00

How much is a pastrami sandwich with 2 extra pickles at 2nd Ave Deli?

Correct! And that's without a tip. To go..

Sandwich was nothing special, 5 out of 10. Not overstuffed and the pastrami was pretty dry and stringy. Sour pickles were old. There are better options in town. Heck, for that price you can go out and have a nice dinner entree at a decent restaurant. Crazy time$ in NYC right now.....

The pastrami sandwich is absolutely perfect. The mustard on the side is so delicious and adds the perfect texture and bite to the sandwich. The rye bread is delicious. My mouth is watering thinking about it! We had great service and a wonderful experience! It was busy but not too crowded! They checked vax card too which was super comforting! We will be back and I will continue to dream of this sandwich!

Feel ripped off. Ordered a pint of matzoh ball soup and one pastrami sandwich. Total with taxes, fees, delivery and tip was $71.00!! The soup was tasty. The sandwich was tiny. What happened to the massive NYC deli sandwich?

Love everything about this place. Typical relaxed Jewish sit down restaurant feel. I knew what I wanted right away: a classic pastrami on rye with a side of their coleslaw. I did want to see the difference between the free side of the vinegar coleslaw versus the $7 side version. I could smell the sandwich before it hit my table. This sandwich was a thing of beauty. The pastrami had a nice thick dark ring at the edges, it was seasoned to the gods, and stacked to the heavens. Loved the fresh and half Salt pickles that came with it. The side coleslaw was great. Not mayonnaise-y gloopy

Dear 2nd Avenue Deli,

There are few things in life that bring me more joy than sitting down in your history stained booths and crushing a hot pastrami sandwich. I never order a lean cut, because lean doesn't cut it.

That is why I'm writing out this letter to you. Because Joseph G. and Maxi The Pug think it's okay to give you a one star review based solely on the fact that you don't deliver to upper Manhattan. My family and I have been coming to your restaurant for over 20 years. What was once a three block commute, is now up to six hours on the I-95, on a good day. Which seemingly

I'm not an expert on pastrami sandwiches, as I had just had my first NY hot pastrami sandwich here the other day. All I know is that it was amazing. The pastrami was so tender that I could barely feel my teeth go through it. The flavor was just fantastic. I usually love mustard, but this time I thought it was best without it, and let the flavors of the pastrami shine through.

I also had the matzo ball soup, which was very good. I have had it before only a few times, and only on the west coast, so it is not surprising that I was pretty impressed by this one at 2nd Ave Deli.

Overall experience 3.7/5. Considering how many great delis are around the area of manhattan it's hard to stick out. We came in for lunch and ordered a couple of items.

First started off with fries and pigs in a blanket both to which came out pretty cold which is not ideal. The fries were quite terrible to be frank. But the pigs in a blanket were delicious and the bread that the "pigs" were rapped in was amazing. Definitely highlight of the meal.

For our course we then split the warm pastrami. The sandwich itself was definitely good but once again came out a bit soggy and cold

Could not wait to revisit the deli after being here in 2019. First time for Motzah ball soup and it was Amazing!!!! The slaw was on point and the cappuccino was possibly the best I have ever had!!
Three pastrami sandwiches ordered at our table and two were excessively fatty and we couldn't finish them.
Bummer, so disappointed with the sandwich.

Still a high rating as the rest of the meal was terrific.

Always been a big fan till now!! Ordered stuff to be picked up.($90.-)...not there...ok so I order on the spot....they didn't have chopped liver like the menu on line said or herring!! I could deal with all that but not with the guy at the counter copping an attitude and being rude!!
No manager on site...nuff said!! Gonna be a long time till I spend $54.- for a sandwich and soup!! Good luck!!

Oi! I went to the 2nd Ave. Deli when it was on 2nd Ave. What a joy!

I had plans to visit the 33rd St. version with another Jewish pal and a Japanese friend who "wanted to try Jewish food." We all worked at different times so we planned to meet between 6:00 and 7. We wanted to start eating on arrival and continue as the group grew.

I got there at 6, planning to start with a bowl of matzoh ball soup, and wait as the other two trickled in after they finished work. No go. Although there were empty tables in back, I was commanded "to wait until everyone arrived." Worse than that

A definite contender in the best pastrami in NYC. So far 2 nd street holds first place for the best deli for our pallet. You get pickles and slaw along with the most delicious mustard to accompany the piled high lean flavorful pastrami. Great service and cozy atmosphere make it a must have . And the chocolate soda complements of the house was a sweet finish.
Thank you,
We will be back.

You will not regret coming here. The food is amazing and sandwiches are so big that you are thinking how you are going to eat this. Needless to say that the portions are very generous. They also have good pickles!

I have been here innumerable times in the last 20 years, at their old location and this more recent one but the food is always the same. No need to post any pictures because they all show the same thing. The biggest best tasting sandwiches.
Whether its the pastrami or corned beef or my favorite the twin double, its always special. Piled high and rich. Nothing like it.
As an addition, the cole slaw is also good and theirs seems to differ from other places but all in all cannot go wrong.

My friend recently had surgery and left instructions to order her a huge thing of matzo ball soup and then whatever I want to eat from 2nd Ave Deli. I've heard many things about the place over the years but never had been to the spot. So what meat sandwich was I going to smash into my face? I went with the pastrami as I think that's the one that everyone raves about. Albeit, I didn't eat it fresh when it was ordered but like 6 hours later and it was still mouth-watering amazing. Ordered the pastrami as is (not fatty or lean because I have honestly no idea what this really means in

A Jewish friend said that the pastrami sandwich here is on par with Katz so I gotta try.
- Pastrami sandwich: 5/5, I chose lean meat on rye bread. The bread was soft so the filling fell apart easily
- Matzo ball soup: 5/5, right amount of saltiness.
- Bagel with smoked salmon: the salmon was very good. Wish that we bought more

2nd Ave Deli is the real deal. We tried a spread of options via delivery, and everything was great.

Pastrami sandwich: Of course, this is the star of the show. 5/5
Matzos ball soup: In our opinion, much better than Katz Deli. Good amount of dill, and you can add carrots, noodles, and other ingredients to it.
Smoked salmon: Light but flavorful - great with their challah
Knish: Although this wasn't crispy at all (a little soggy via delivery), the filling was still great. A surprise crowd favorite.
