Pete, Meredith and their friendly staff work hard to exceed customer expectations, to help people enjoy bicycling, and to give back to the community that they love. We know that the products we sell are only as good as the people who stand behind them, and our people are the best. If you don't love your purchase, return the item within 30 days and we will make it right.
Just bought a Trek Verve 3 here and couldn't be happier. Great customer service, they take the time to make sure you get both the size you need and the right type of bike for the kind of riding you do. So glad I came here for my new bike. Thanks again Daniel! Will be back for sure. This bike shop has helped me so much since coming to Athens for College.

Services
Athens Bicycle is a locally owned and operated bike shop with a reputation for providing friendly, personalized customer service. With more than 50 combined years of bicycling experience in the region, owners Peter Kotses and Meredith Erlewine and their warm, welcoming staff have a wealth of knowledge about the area's many roads, bike paths and off-road trails.
We launched Athens Bicycle in 1998 with the goals of fostering a cycling community in our hometown. We believe that bicycling and community go hand in hand, and that a great bike shop is an important part of a great community. Here are some of the ways we support the Athens community. Peter serves on Athens City Council as an at-large member, where he is a vocal advocate of complete streets and active transportation.
We know that the products we sell are only as good as the people who stand behind them - and our people are the best. We strive to give you so much more than just the product you are buying. Our goal is for you to love your bike and bicycling, and for our level of service to be so high that you make excuses to visit our store.
When three run-down houses on the corner of Stimson and Cornwell streets went on on the market, Athens Bicycle owner Peter Kotses saw an opportunity to create a permanent home for his bike shop and also to preserve some important Athens history. Starting in 1890, Stimson Avenue was lined with these brick homes and other buildings that were part of the Athens Brick Company.
Do you remember your first bike? It's a big deal! Our staff has lots of experience helping families select bikes for riders of all ages and we are passionate about getting kids on bikes. At Athens Bicycle we know how important it is for a kid to learn to ride on a right-sized, quality bike.
We take the time to make sure your child is getting not only the right size bike, but also a bike with right features for the types of riding he or she will be doing.Gears, no gears, hand brakes, coaster brakes, wheel size. Stop in and check out our kids measuring chart and talk to our staff about options for your family.

I'm awkward to begin with when it comes to asking for advice and help. Any time I've had to stop in to get some minor tweek done on my bikes, even my old crappy bike, these guys have been awesome. Knowledgeable and kind even at my most awkward ofquestions and they know how to ask me questions to help me find exactly what I need if I didn't know what to ask. Thanks guys for helping me learn!

I had just moved to Athens and wanted to get a bike. But I haven't ridden in years and didn't even know where to start. Ryan was extremely helpful. I obviously was not an avid biker, and didn't know a city bike from an off-road bike, but Ryan treated me with the utmost respect. He eventually identified a bike that would be perfect for me, but it wasn't a bike they sold. Instead of steering me toward a different bike, he wrote the make and model down (an Electra Townie Balloon 3i) for me so I could locate one myself. What customer service! It's nice to know that you can trust these guys.

I am a poor graduate student and went into Athens Bicycle knowing very little about bikes. I found the staff there to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I didn't feel any pressure to make a purchase, but was so happy with the service that I bought a bike there later that day. I am so glad that I resisted the urge to save a couple dollars by getting bike at Wal-Mart; buying locally from knowledgeable salespeople is always the way to go.
