A person may only file a personal injury claim if he or she was hurt as a result of another parties' negligence or recklessness. Examples of this include being hit by a drunk driver or being sold a pharmaceutical drug with dangerous and unadvertised side-effects. Determining liability is simple in some instances, but complex in others.

For example, if you are hit by a truck driver while driving your car and sustain serious injuries, who do you sue? The truck driver, the trucking company, or the loading company? This depends on how the accident was caused. An experienced personal injury attorney can help you determine who was at fault for your accident by collecting evidence and enlisting trusted experts to testify in your case.

Sustaining injuries in a fault-based accident can leave you reeling for days, weeks, and even longer. Suddenly you are faced with the pain and discomfort of physical damage as well as emotional trauma, spiraling medical expenses, and more. You may be unable to work for an extended period of time while your loved ones face financial uncertainty.
Unfortunately, car accidents occur daily across the U.S., including in Louisiana. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in 2017, someone died in a traffic accident every 14 minutes in this country. Total injuries that year were approximately 2.7 million with five people being injured every minute in car crashes.
