Susan joined the DCLAH team in May of 2018. As a receptionist and customer service provider, Susan assists DCLAH clients with scheduling appointments and answering any questions they may have in a timely manner. She also assists the veterinarians and all other staff with paperwork, data entry and any other duties necessary to ensure that DCLAH provides exemplary service to our clients.
Emergency services are available 24 hours by calling our emergency line at (336) 998-7130. If you have a current coggins, vaccination records or any pertinent medical information for your horse that you would like to be kept on file, please bring those with you. We will be glad to make a copy for future reference if needed.

Dr Castro is a very knowledgeable and professional veterinarian. As a veterinarian myself, I can attest to his knowledge and also his concern and compassion when I was met after hours for a colicky mini mule. He is calm and explains everything in great detail. We also did some ophthalmic work on my other horse and she is going great! Highly recommend! Davie county is indeed fortunate to have him available to help horses in this area!

Davie County Large Animal has given me everything I could ever ask for in a vet. Dr. Peacock has been the vet for my horse, before I even bought him, and has been amazing through the purchasing process, radiographs, lameness evals, ownership and the list goes on. A dear friend of mine got the call none of us want to get. The horse, out of excitement to see her caretaker was running to meet her. As Star leaped across the creek, she fell. Thanks to Dr. Castro for helping “Sissy” get back to feeling herself after a spell with allergies that had turned into respiratory complications. Dr. Castro & his team are the best! Treated my horse & I like we were the only patients at the hospital when we arrived for surgery. Took the time to sit down and talk with me about procedure & expectations. Was very patient and kind with my anxious horse. Professional, kind and you could tell everyone who worked there loved what they did. Can not recommend them enough. The drive to Southern Pines was easy too!
