I have provided legal guidance to the people of Erie and western Pennsylvania since 1975. I have performed a variety of roles during my career as a lawyer, including in-house counsel for Security Peoples Trust Co. for three years. This was followed by five years as a staff attorney at the Erie County Public Defender's Office.
Since opening my doors for business in 1978, I have steadfastly guided individuals and families of Erie and western Pennsylvania through a variety of estate law processes. Many people assume that estate planning is something done in retirement, but young families can benefit from actions such as establishing guardianship for their children by drafting a will.
Many estate planning tools can protect assets. While a will is a common one for passing assets to loved ones, a trust can also be useful in accomplishing this task or it can be used to supplement a will. Different kinds of trusts perform different tasks, but they generally avoid the cost of probate.
A disabled person cannot qualify for government assistance if their income or assets exceed certain limits. A special needs trust preserves eligibility for government programs while providing spending money and paying for "extras" to improve the person's quality of life.

Attorney Heidt has been very helpful with my legal situation, He guided me through this difficult custody process that I was going through. I would recomend him to anyone who needed an attorney.
