Services
At ESOMC we create a treatment plan after making an accurate orthopedic medical diagnosis. In most cases, our treatments can help you avoid the cost and stress of surgery. Our treatment plans include an eclectic blend of traditional medicine, oriental medicine and osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic medical treatments are far less invasive than surgical treatment and cause fewer traumas to your body.
Dr. Thomas Peterson was the first medical doctor in Oregon to use Platelet Rich Plasma for orthopedic problems. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy uses the patient's own blood for stimulating healing. Your body's first response to soft tissue injury is to deliver and activate platelet cells. Packed with growth and healing factors, platelets begin the repair process and attract the critical assistance of your own stem cells.
Since 1991, Eugene Sports and Orthopedic Medical Center has used prolotherapy as a non-surgical treatment for chronic soft tissue damage. Prolotherapy uses your body's own natural healing ability to create healthy tissue, instead of removing it surgically. Soft tissue injuries are the result of strains and bruises of muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.
Pain is usually thought of as coming from damaged tissues in the body (bones, tendons, ligaments, etc.). Tissue damage does indeed cause pain, but it is not always the root cause of the pain that we perceive. The pain that we perceive is often carried by superficial sensory nerves located just under the skin that act like local electric circuits, which turn on when stimulated by various things such as heat, sharp objects, toxins, etc.
The elegance of osteopathic medical manual therapy is that your body is naturally programmed to function normally. Sometimes an injury causes your body to malfunction. The treatment uses gentle manual techniques that give your body the opportunity it needs to return to normal function. Your orthopedic medical diagnosis may indicate that you have restricted movement in your joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, or facial tissue.
