Yamel Torres is the founder and Sifu of the Chinese Martial Arts and Seven Star Wellness Center which opened its doors to the Chicago community in 1998. Prior to opening his school, Yamel was an Electrical Engineer and Software developer professional earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master of Science in Computer Science from DePaul University.

I worked with Dr Torres for about a year, 3-4x/month. At the outset, I was looking for help with issues related to general and preventative health concerns, minor aches and pains, and issues related to a high-stress life as a student and professional. I also had a curiosity about acupuncture, and I wanted to see what it was like. I was referred to Dr. Torres by a lifelong friend of mine, I had just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer and had my Colon resection surgery. I started chemotherapy treatment with my Hospital and Acupuncture at Seven Star Wellness at the same time. It has been 13 months, and 28 Chemo sessions since than. I started at 1 chemo session every 2 weeks and have now been moved to every 3 weeks. O have had no major side effects to chemo. Only side effect so far is acne on my face. I started seeing Dr. Torres in November 2019 for a sinus infection that I have been treating for 3 weeks with over the counter medicine without result. I reached out to Seven Star Wellness while infected with COVID-19. I currently live in Arizona, but a family member highly recommended their facility. Even though I am all the way in the southwest, I was able to receive a consultation (very big plus) through FaceTime over the phone and received my herbs through the postal service in a timely manner. Dr. Torres has even reached out with genuine concern to see how I was doing and continued to check up on how the herbs were working.
