Home is more than an address; it's a feeling. Home means having the freedom to do whatever you choose, while feeling safe and secure. Home means having your favorite things around you-photographs of people you love, books and mementos you cherish, and chocolate ice cream in the freezer. It's the comfort of being in your own space and the freedom to simply be yourself.

Services
The Piper, recognized as one of the top assisted living facilities in Kansas City, is a different kind of assisted living option that answers the call of personal independence. We believe that every life deserves to be celebrated in its entirety, and that individuals should be free to live their lives on their own time and in their own way.
When most people think of senior healthcare facilities or nursing homes, a certain image comes to mind. That mental picture involves long hallways, nursing stations, small rooms with a divider curtain and two hospital beds side by side. That model has been the standard since the first nursing homes were built in the 1950s.

A cruel loud woman walked in while I was asleep in my frail and elderly mothers bed and was yelling at her and woke me up. She informed us that we did not receive her clearance to visit and I must leave, before Thanksgiving dinner was even served. Her birthday was the day after. We both were scared cried. Who was the strange man at the breakfast table early as I made myself tea and I recognized a worker there despite her newly done fresh hair/wig and baby blue talon like fingernails. Spoke with a lovely Haitian lady and then went back to my mothers room. I was not aware men were allowed on the

My mom used to live at The Piper and recently went with my friend to visit her mom. Wow, has it changed for the worst. They did get new carpeting but staff was scarce and rude. I use to praise this place but not anymore.

My favorite aspect of The Piper is the small households. Allows for staff, residents and families to truly get to know one another. To be known and seen as an individual is so important in this setting. We all have different ways and preferences and this doesn't change just because we age! The Piper makes a genuine effort to meet each individual residents' preferences and interests.

We've worked side-by-side with the team at The Piper and can honestly say this is the most professional, caring group of people we've ever worked with. If you are searching for Kansas City assisted living facilities or memory care support in Kansas City you must put The Piper on your short list of places to tour for your senior loved one. The team is experienced, the facility is easily the best of it's kind, and their unique "Household Model" is the reason you will end up selecting them.

When I first moved my husband to the dementia care unit here 3 years ago, I thought I had found utopia. The place was new, bright and cheery, yet had a homelike atmosphere, not institutional. And it worked for quite awhile because he was ambulatory, and also I knew because I had the extra support of hospice. But as his level of care has gone up, The Piper is no longer staffed appropriately, either with number of staff or nursing care. The model is that the same staff that cares for the patients also does the housekeeping and laundry. That is fine as long as you have the staff to do it. A recent

This is a beautiful facility and can feel very homey. However, I've been staying here with my sister the past 4 days and have seen signs of employee staffing changes, lots of new staff or understaffed, as well as overworked staff who are willing to help take up the slack. That has led to great concern. Transfer of information for patient needs is non-existent from one shift to another. They’ve either been ignored or the shift change who was willing to fill in did not get the proper instructions that were left by the previous nurse. Lots of new staff seems to indicate dissatisfied workers. Maybe

My mom moved here a couple months ago and it has been a lifesaver for our family. She needed a safe place, meals, help with her medicines and someone to keep an eye on her. The Piper has provided that and more. Really happy with the staff and how made her feel welcome. I was finally able to take a vacation and not worry about mom!!
