The petition is a document you file with the district clerk in the county in which you live. It will have the title "Original Petition for Divorce". Mr. Thornton really takes care to understand the people he is representing and also to understand the personal and legal challenges they face in their case. He is direct and doesn't waste time but still makes sure you have all the options presented to make an informed decision on how to proceed. To be honest and say my honest opinion. Mr. Robert the best lawyer in town or even if your case if out of town. I am very pleased with the outcome of my case. He is passionate and comprehending and takes the extra step to make sure that your needs are meet. "Its your case and i will do what you want me to do for your to feel settle" his words not mine. He is. Caring for his clients . He explained to me all my conditions and was always very respecful and honest. 10/10. If you need someone to help you call him he is the best !

Robert was very professional. He knows the law very well and cares for his clients. He helped me out with my child support case after my ex wife sued me. He represented me well, never letting me get taken advantage of. I would highly recommend Robert!
I also want to add after reading some of the reviews about Robert people are upset that he makes $350 and hour. I just want to defend him and say good lawyers cost money. I think Robert was worth every penny. He’s an extremely competent lawyer if you want cheap go with someone else... you want to win your case go with Robert.

I can't say that I like lawyers but I got to hand it to Robert. I was in a crisis and needed help. Robert is so calm and professorial in the court room, he is always in control. Never once did he beat around the bush, he was always straight forward with me. Not all lawyers are just trying to squeeze every dime out of you. Some of them actually care and are passionate about helping people. I have had lawyers in the past and been so disappointed. Robert is the only lawyer I know who will get back with you the same day and not hide. He is truly a good person and an amazing lawyer in the court room

DO NOT USE ROBERT A. THORNTON!!! He will rip you off and run with your money! I went to speak with him about my divorce, suppose to be a "free consultation" and literally 2 weeks later we called the divorce off at the end of December 2017 and it is now March 2019 and hes JUST now giving me my invoice! He charged me for the consultation, he charged me after the divorce was called off and I had to remind him like a 3 year old to give me my money back! I had to repeatedly remind him to sign the document of dismissal! Just over all HORRIBLE "lawyer" Find someone else DO NOT USE him!!

This lawyer did not mention facts that I had provided him with. His communication lacked, he hardly told me what the other parties were responding in emails. Let alone when they responded with legal documents they made me seem at fault. When In all reality I provided evidence. My affidavit had leaked to the other party and this lawyer did not have my best intentions at heart. He kept asking for more money. And charges $87 for listening to a voicemail? He doesn’t pick up phone calls or even communicates about the what I needed to be said in the responses. Wasted my time and money!!!!! Do not trust

I hired Mr. Thornton to handle my highly contested divorce/child custody case. Mr. Thornton made sure to keep me informed every step of the way with great detail. He worked in making sure decisions made were going to be what was best for me and my children in the long run. He fought for us.
