Everyone experiences pain at one point or another. In fact, it's one of the most common reason for physician visits. Pain often has a negative effect on a person's quality of life and can interfere with their ability to work, sleep and enjoy family and friends. When should you seek treatment from a pain management specialist?
This answer is different for each individual. Some patients come to us after years of pain with little to no relief, never realizing they could benefit from pain management. Others have been recently injured and are looking for both a diagnosis and relief from their injury.

The Charleston community was in need of a fellowship trained and Board Certified pain physician who could provide comprehensive pain management treatment. Dr. Owens felt that he was called to return to the area in which he grew up to serve his community. His dedication to advanced pain management education and training allows him to provide a variety of treatment options with great success.
As a patient your care is in your hands. You have the option to choose your doctors and making an informed decision is very important. Things to consider when choosing your doctor include their training, board certifications, and patient reviews. With these things in mind you can feel confident that you are making the right choice when choosing our office.
We have an amazing staff at Carolina Pain Physicians. It is our mission to provide every patient with quality care in a friendly environment. Our staff is truly a family at Carolina Pain Physicians and each patient we treat becomes an extension of our family. Dr. Owens was raised in Ladson, SC. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry as a summa cum laude graduate of Charleston Southern University.
At Carolina Pain Physicians we rely on patient reviews to make sure we are doing everything we can to provide the best care for our patients. Due to the strict regulations in pain management we are not going to be able to make every patient happy but we strive to ensure we provide compassionate care even when we cannot provide patients with pain medication.
If you are a physician's office and you would like to send a patient to Dr. Owens just fax over a referral. Once we receive it our referral coordinator will call the patient to schedule their appointment. We will then fax you confirmation of the date and time your patient is scheduled. Progress notes are faxed out after each visit so you can remain updated on their treatment plan and progress.

The staff are very friendly, courteous and try to help best they can... However, when trying to explain to the PA's, sometimes it feels like I'm wasting my time. Statisqou seems to be the norm. Example: it took a long time of trying to convince them that pain had changed i was struggling before ordering a c-scan and found a cyst on my spine. Also I've had several doctors diagnose me over the past 22 years one way and PA at Carolina
another way. It's very puzzling. I've even tried to explain i was having some issues with filling meds and was told I must be mistaken even though I have absolute proof

The staff and doctor were friendly and professional. Yet I didn't find anyone but Dr Owens to be familiar with my specific pain disorder. This is disappointing due to the fact that I was seeing the staff regularly and the doctor only when a procedure was scheduled. I understand the staff consult with the doctor but everyone seeing patients should know the verious pain disorders.

I feel like dr owens listened to me and was helpful but the PAs are arrogant. At least google my condition if dont know about it or ask me questions. How can you treat someone and provide medical care if you dont know what is going on with me. I would not recommend this office. The girls that work up front are rude too. Dr owens himself was the the only positive person in the office but u only see him for your first apt or when he gives you an injection.

I go here so that I can continue to walk and not be in so much pain! Everybody here takes great care of me always plus listens to me. I'm not treated like a a number I'm treated like a person! Everyone works so hard with me and we all celebrate the victories!
All and all if you are looking for a doctor and staff that will help you, then come here! All I know is that I'm glad that I did and I hope that you do too!

This location is absolutely horrible. They try and offer solutions that are going to give you even more negative issues as time goes on. The staff is extremely rude as well as the nurse's assistant or doctor assistant however you want to put it. They talk to you as though you are ignorant and talk Extremely Loud where you can hear through the walls. Very unprofessional. When you ask to speak with someone who can help you they tell you no. They just get you to a receptionist that has no information about anything. They have someone call you back who knows nothing as well when you ask to speak to

I had a wonderful experience. The girls in the office were nice, pleasant and professional. Dr Owen's was great. He focused on stuff other doctors had mentioned, yet he showed how serious something is that other doctors assumed probably was not an issue and focused his concern on how to remedy this issue. I highly recommend Dr. Owen's and his PA I have seen Abbey. I also wanted to add this.... I have had disc's removed, disc's fused. I have been seeing doctors; many for this issue, and this is the first doctor to use COMMENTS SENSE and have comfortable chairs to sit in while I wait.
