The Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma (MCSO) is a 148 bed facility, owned and operated by Community Health Systems and serving Bryan, Choctaw, Atoka, Johnston and Marshall Counties. MCSO offers a full range of medical services and procedures to patients in the region and is one of the largest tax-paying entities in Bryan County with a total economic impact exceeding $85 million.
Durant Family Medicine Clinic is the primary outpatient-training site for residents. In this facility, residents learn a wide range of skills via full-time and part-time faculty and from distance learning associated with OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. Procedural skills are honed with the aid of state of the art equipment.
As part of the Affordable Care Act, most U.S. citizens are required to have health insurance beginning in 2014. During the first enrollment wave, which began in October of 2013 and ended in March of this year, nearly 10 million uninsured individuals enrolled in a Marketplace plan. Yet, approximately 30 million Americans remain uninsured.
Through a partnership with HealthStream, a nationally-recognized healthcare improvement firm, Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma (MCSO) plans to use surveys to monitor patient care delivered by the hospital's employees and physicians. The HealthStream surveys will be done by telephone calls to patients versus the previous method of mailing the surveys.
