GYROTONIC Method is a holistic approach to movement designed to meet the needs of people of all ages, abilities and health conditions. It was created by Juliu Horvath, a Hungarian-born professional ballet dancer, and is based on principles of tai chi, swimming, dance, and yoga.

Joseph Pilates created his unique workout system in the 1920's. All movement is initiated from the body's core, specifically the deep muscles of the abdomen and back. When the core muscles are strong, they stabilize the torso, support the spine, and allow the entire body to move freely and efficiently.
Private sessions provide the ideal opportunity for in-depth learning and practice. At Pushes and Pulls, we are able to tailor each workout to your individual fitness needs, goals and abilities. We recommend clients new to pilates take at least three private sessions before joining our group classes.
Private sessions are are by Appointment. These One on One sessions are an excellent way to concentrate on your individual needs and goals. We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cannot make your reserved session, you must cancel at least 24 hours in advance or you will be charged the full amount. This is a courtesy to the instructors who must be paid for the sessions they're scheduled, and to other clients who might want to schedule a session at that time.

Marsha and Steve are amazing, professional, knowledgeable, and fun! I have been coming to their studio for over 2 years and it has been life changing! They meet you where you are at and customize each session. I really appreciate their approach, which is unlike any other experience I have had in the past with gyms and personal trainers who were pushy and workouts that were boring. I highly recommend you check out Pushes and Pulls. It's the best!

Stephen and Marsha adapt the various exercises to meet the needs and limitations of their clients, even in their classes. Each is treated as an individual. There is plenty of laughter during the classes — I know — laughter and exercising seem mutually exclusive, but not here. The classes are great and the individual sessions are amazing.

I started at Pushes and Pulls with Marsha and Steve a couple of months ago. I have been practicing Pilates on and off for the past 15 years with an amazing array of instructors; however, I must say that Marsha is the crème de la crème! She knows everything about the body -- how it moves, why certain muscles ache, etc. All I have to do is tell her, "I felt a pinch right here when I did that movement," and she always knows what muscle is affected and why, then she will have me adjust my posture or movement and voila! everything is in working order!

I have taken two introductory classes one-on-one with Marsha. Every moment of the one hour class (taught on the reformer) was productive and instructive, with her ensuring that I was doing the movements correctly. I felt fantastic and energized after the classes. I highly recommend this studio and the instructors!

Very excited to review Marsha. I worked with her at another studio for over a year. I was post spine surgery and had barely any movement in my spine. Before I had spine surgery I was jogger and did yoga for years. One day my back went out and even after surgery I could do nothing. Then someone suggested Pilates. I researched and found Marsha at a studio in San Francisco. Martha's knowledge of anatomy and movement is incredible.
